My brother in law and I took our young daughters on this tour during a weekend trip to Amsterdam. Jennifer the tour guide gave us a spirited and passionate tour of black history which we will never forget. We learnt so much about the contributions that people of the black diaspora made to Dutch society and economy. I’ recommend that anyone who is interested in history should attend this tour, it was one of the highlights of an enjoyable weekend in Amsterdam.…

It was a blazing hot day in Amsterdam, me my friend and our two daughters booked the tour. Being black people from the UK we were not sure what to expect. The tour was normally a walking tour but it was conducted via boat. I actually really liked that. Back to the tour, it was very informative tour from a total different perspective from the UK or USA viewpoint. Although they interlink, this perspective gave even more depth to this history that is often swept or rewritten to suit. I learned so much and was glade the young people were able to experience the amazing adventure. Jennifer the tour guide was really amazing, she articulated the stories, the facts in a way that made me feel proud. She was positive, fun and honest. Not sure what I was expecting but again it was valuable and a necessary tour to take. This is not a "black" thing but a "historical" thing unearthing some uncomfortable but honest revelations. Take your family and friends and open up yourself to Jennifer and the heritage tour. Loved it...…
