About
Come join my Jewish Amsterdam Tour! This is a small group tour with max 10 people, for individual bookings. The tour is in English. It includes: - The Portuguese Synagogue - The Jewish Museum - The Holocaust Memorial - Landmarks in Amsterdam's old Jewish neighborhood As I myself am the guide, I'll tell you a little bit about myself: My name is Naomi Koopmans. In the past 10 years I've guided thousands of people through Amsterdam's Jewish history. Before that I spent 7 years in Rome. There I worked as a licensed tourguide of Jewish- and general history. Moreover, I lived 10 years in Israel. I obtained my B.A. – and M.A. degrees in Jewish history from Tel Aviv University and I worked as a licensed tourguide in Israel as well. I'm passionate about the Jewish heritage and I feel committed to conveying its beauty no matter where in the world!

It was such a pleasure to tour the Jewish Quarter with Naomi Koopmans as part of her Jewish Amsterdam tour. Naomi took us to three significant sites, giving a detailed history of each, as long as a great overall view of the history of Jews in the Netherlands. She is clearly so passionate and engaged about her work, and her knowledge and kind presence is equally impressive. I cannot recommend this wonderful tour with such an extraordinary tour guide enough. Thank you, Naomi!

We were honored to take the Jewish Walking tour with Naomi. She was highly recommended by relatives and friends who took her tour. Naomi is a knowledgeable historian that has the ability to make the history come alive. Every segment of the tour was enhanced by her passion for the plight of the Jews. It was a tour we will never forget. We gladly recommend this exceptional tour of a lifetime.

Naomi was so knowledgeable and such a great tour guide, I would highly recommend that anyone coming to Amsterdam sign up for her tour. She packed so much information into her 3-hour tour. She is a wonderful person, we would liked to have spend more time with her. Her knowledge of the history in Amsterdam was incredible.

We were a small party of 3, but had a wonderful tour of the old jewish quarter old Amsterdam with Naomi Koopman. She is knowledgeable, very engaging and attuned to the interests of the group she is leading. We highly recommend her to anyone wanting to get a real feel for how the city was historically as well as how the current Jewish population is doing now.

Naomi was outstanding. She not only knows the history and culture but made it very personal with stories. Nothing was glossed over. We toured the Portuguese Synagogue, the Jewish Museum and Holocaust memorial. A three hour tour - and honestly I am sure she could have spent twice that with her knowledge. She patiently answered questions. With the entry tickets we were welcome to return later in the day to look further into some of the material, especially at the museum. You can see her passion for Jewish history and culture and her background as a tour guide not only in Amsterdam but also in Israel shown through. This is not a generic Jewish tour run by a company that also does general Amsterdam tours. Naomi is worth the time if you are interested in truly understanding the history of the Jewish community in Amsterdam.

It is often noted that a tour's itinerary may be ideal, but it's the tour guide that makes it great. Our itinerary included the Portuguese Synagogue, Jewish Museum and the Holocaust Memorial. Although my wife and I had visited the Museum in 2022, the tour guide provided a better perspective and understanding of the exhibits. We would like to thank Naomi Koopmans for providing us insight, a better understanding of religious and cultural norms or laws and historical "whys" and "how-comes". Naomi made this a great experience with her knowledge, amazing back ground and encompassing personality.

Naomi Koopmans is an excellent and very knowledgeable tour guide. She is very knowledgable about Jewish history, culture, and religion (not only in Amsterdam, but around the world). Additionally, as a member of the local Jewish community she adds significant insights about what it really means to be Jewish in Amsterdam today and has a familiarity with the community, its traditions, and its history that others would not have without being part of the community. She is an excellent teacher and very easy to understand in fluent English. She connects with her audience and tailors the experience to your level of knowledge and interests. I highly recommend this tour to anyone interesting in gaining a deep understanding of Jewish life (both the history and today) in Amsterdam.

Naomi is amazing in her role as a guide through the history of Jewish Amsterdam. She brings that history to life and makes you really understand and feel like you are living through life in Jewish Amsterdam through the years when it was a vibrant and large community. I would highly recommend her to anyone thinking of visiting Amsterdam and looking for a guide to the Jewish history of the city.

We had a wonderful time with Naomi Koopmans on this tour! She was very proactive with arranging the time and meeting place ahead of the visit, making it easy for us to meet up. She prearranged tickets to both the Portuguese Synagogue and Jewish Museum. She was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the Jews in Amsterdam, and took us through the area, teaching us about the community, the impact it had on the city, and what happened to it during and after WWII, and into today. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in learning about this important part of Amsterdam’s history.

I enjoy reading the plaques in many museums. Did you find that the the tour spent adequate time such that one could do that in each place? If not, and we'd like to return to spend additional time in the Jewish Museum or Holocaust Memorial (that same day), can we be readmitted to them?

We had plenty of time, but you like to move slowly through a museum, plan to return after the tour.

We have booked this tour with Naomi. How far from the last stop on this tour to the Anne Frank House. Is it in walking distance or do we take public transportation. Approximately how long will it take to get from the last stop on this tour to the Anne Frank House.. Thank you!

The tram is definitely the way to go. You will spend a lot of time on your feet with Naomi and a lot of time on your feet at the Anne Frank House. The tram ride will be a welcome rest.

Hi. We are a group of four adults and will be in Amsterdam July 18 and 19. Our cruise arrives the morning of the 18th and we have Anne Frank house tickets the morning of the 19th but are wondering if you have any afternoon tours available either of those days. Thank you!

I agree with VAKELSEY1. Contact Naomi Koopmans. See the Sephardi Synagogue & Museum. Also if you have time close by is the Resistance Museum (Verzetsmuseum) very worthwhile but not talked about so much.
