- Marc B3 contributionsHidden gem in AmsterdamDoor 74 is one of the best bars in Amsterdam. A bit hidden but definitely a true gem in the gay scene of this beautiful city! We tried all the cocktails of the menu and all of them were truly magnificent. From the moment you step through its discreet entrance, you're transported to a bygone era of sophistication and refinement. The ambiance is an exquisite blend of vintage charm and modern allure, creating an intimate setting that sets the perfect stage for an evening of indulgence. The real star of the show, however, is the manager, Andeta. Her warm and knowledgeable demeanor elevates the entire experience; she not only crafts impeccable cocktails but also effortlessly guides patrons through the extensive menu, ensuring each drink is a personalized delight. - Beth SNewcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom437 contributionsOne of my favourite barsIn every city I visit, I love to find great bars and this has to be one of the best. It’s a bit tricky to find but the teen here are fantastic, they are exceptionally knowledgeable and nail the drink recommendations. Along with a brilliant friendly demeanour. The atmosphere is excellent and the decor is beautiful. If you enjoy your cocktails this is a must visit.Visited December 2023Traveled with friendsWritten December 14, 2023
- JuinismamaCrudwell, United Kingdom33 contributionsCocktail Kings! We came here with friends and heard of this place and luckily we got a table. You can’t tell where the place is as it’s just a pretty normal front door but once you enter it feels like you’ve been transported into to the prohibition era. Dim lighting and a speakeasy vibe. And yes the drinks here are amazing. They are pricey but you are certainly getting a cocktail created by someone who knows exactly what they are doing. I would definitely recommend a visit.Visited December 2023Traveled with friendsWritten December 16, 2023
- martin n3 contributionsThe drinking/dining highlight of our visit to the city. This is a fabulous bar and it's a shame we only discovered it on the last night in the city. The anonymous doorway and small window they open to check you out is just the right amount of 'drama' without being contrived. Inside it is dark and the staff are really friendly and welcoming. Cool low key music. You can sit at the bar or there are several small discreet and cozy booths for couples and a few larger booths and tables. Cocktails are first class. The beautiful menu carries around 20 house drinks, several being classics with a twist. These really do have an interesting and subtle variation and are not just 'ruined' by having an unlikely ingredient added. Loved the 'Holy Water' (I think) which was a Negroni but with 'buttered Campari' and something else which took the harsh edge off this classic. Just stunning. Not cheap - drinks around 14-18 euros and with a generous large block of ice in each glass you will get through a few. They take bookings - we turned up at 8.30 on a Tuesday evening without one and they had space but by 9pm it was pretty full. The drinking/dining highlight of our visit to the city.Visited July 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten August 1, 2024

As echoed by other reviewers, the booking process is frustrating no matter at what time of the day you try to book.
The bar only intermittently responds to messages and doesn’t seem organized at all with their scheduling. Whoever is in charge of texting is brief/almost short-tempered. I was ignored for a few hours after being on the verge of booking a spot. I didn’t receive any explanation for it. And of course, it was too late by the time I got an answer.
Reading the other reviews I’m glad I didn’t visit this place; Amsterdam isn’t short on great speakeasies that are more organized and know how to treat customers politely.

We had come from a bustling traditional bar called The Trappe-a rustic bar, full of life with great service and every table inside was full, to this bar that we had booked..and what a disappointment. We queued up outside and engaged in all the secrecy. The waitress allowed one booking in at a time, closing the door to the remaining people in the queue (part of the act I suppose?). When we were escorted inside we were give a table which we had to share with another couple. The bar was dark and pretentious, the drinks were over priced and very small. The waitress asked if everything was OK so we were honest and told her that the drinks were very small- she said she also wished they were bigger. Then came the bill. .. £15 for the tequila and then another £5 for the rest of the margarita! Never known anything like it. It wasn't anything special and we quickly left. Wouldn't recommend to anyone. There are better cocktails elsewhere with better value for money and a much friendlier service!

Came here as part of a trip for my husband's birthday. I was so excited to come here, based off all of the glowing reviews!
It was awful and disappointing, so much so in fact we stayed for 1 drink only.
We couldn't even find the place first of all as it is an unmarked door - which we get its a speakeasy and thought it was quite funny, although I was bursting for the loo. We were early for our reservation and were told we can either sit basically in the window sill and they would move us when our table became free or we could sit at the bar. We chose the windowsill booth.
It is so dark in the bar it was hard to read the menu but, again, we found this quite funny and quirky.
Service was slow. Our waitress came over and I was asking questions about the drinks, which she was unable to answer. If you're working in a bar like this, at least have some product knowledge.
Ordered a drink each and when they came they tasted alright but nothing special. Each had the biggest ice cube I've ever seen in and, I don't know what came over me, but I lifted my husband's ice cube out of his drink (a short whiskey looking glass) and no word of a lie the cocktail was the size of a shot. So cheeky considering how expensive they are!! It's just a huge con and you end up feeling cheated. So you end up paying over €30 for effectively 2 shots.
I don't understand how the reviews are so good?!
Would not recommend and would definitely not come again!

Great speakeasy but must make a reservation. We were sat with another group but quickly made friends and had a great evening. The menu was great for European cocktail standards but the bar tenders were open to suggestions and making drinks up knowing what we liked.

Came here twice during our Amsterdam trip. We walked in once at 12 am and once at 1:30 am without any issue. The lounge has a cool Speakeasy feel/vibe. Entrance is unmarked and you must ring a doorbell. Service is outstanding. The cocktail menu is creative. The drinks were excellent. If you are into craft cocktails and a Speakeasy feel, look no futher. You will be glad you stopped by!

Amazing little speakeasy. You can make a reservation on their website, so while there is a novelty with passwords and speakeasies, the online booking makes it much easier. Great array of cocktails, and the bartender will make you anything else they know, like a long island iced tea isn't on the menu, but you could definitely ask. Great service from the host and bartenders. The bartender also had great knowledge. Really good atmosphere too.

All hype and no substance. We visit cocktail bars regularly and have been to “speakeasy” style venues in many cities around the world and this is easily the worst. The drinks menu itself is pretty terrible, and the execution of the drinks on it even worse. Watered down, tasteless and unimaginative. I didn’t want to finish mine but at the price I pinched my nose and downed it - grim. Their bartenders have a lot to learn.
The bar is also incredibly uncomfortable and your seating options are:
1. Shoved in to a small booth with other couples
2. Sit on what is basically a windowsill right by the front door or the toilets
Really cramped and unpleasant and left with back ache and pins and needles.
I saw no couples stay longer than one drink (many staying even less time than us) and I’m not sure if it was the uncomfortable seating or dreadful drinks that hurried them on their way…
Also - for a speakeasy bar, the choice of loud hip hop with a bass so booming you could barely talk over it was an odd one. Where’s the jazz or 20s music?
Save yourself the time, hassle and euros and look elsewhere!
A terrible experience.

I'm trying to reserve a table for a date at the end of Aug, I've texted the number with the details but haven't heard back.
Going for a friends 30th for one night, does anyone have any suggestions how I can get in touch with Door74?
Thanks!

Very relaxed and casual. But you'll probably feel better if you are not wearing shorts and flip flops. Jeans were fine.

How quickly to they get back to you about a reservation? We'll be relying on our hotel phone, and don't want to have to waste sightseeing time waiting for a call back. Any tips?

Unless they've changed it we booked via the website and they confirmed via a text
