Should not be leaving Amsterdam without doing this. Whether you 'agree' with this lifestyle or not, loads of information and our tour guide Lisa was amazing- she gave the information and you formed your own opinion. Great way to see the area with the history and some 'secrets of the trade' information which was interesting/entertaining. Very much enjoyed and highly... More

4 weeks ago we were in Amsterdam and went on the RED LIGHT DISTRICT walking tour . Our guide for the night was an Italian guy he explained a few things before we headed off about the tour but seemed very embarrassed about what he was saying every time we stopped to hear more explanation s about the red light... We purchased a red light district walking tour and had a great tour guide - Andy. Commencing at 8 pm (and still full day light in Amsterdam) we walked to the near by red light district. Andy was very informative and took time to answer all our questions. Passed the sex toy shops and the condom selling shops and into... More

Walking the Red Light District of Amsterdam is an experience. The ladies are right there in the windows showing off their wares and ocasionally giving a tap on the window to get your attention. Besides the ladies, there are Coffeehouses and clubs open as well. Most are there to just see it all but with it all right in front... More

No trip to Amsterdam is complete or satisfying without taking the Canal Tour as it is well worth the money as the tour includes a detailed description of the surrounding architecture and history of many of the buildings, a close-up view of the House Boats that are part of the daily activity on the Canal. If you don't pay a... More

Very nice experience. I have to admit that I was thinking before that the walk would be dangerous. Nothing to be afraid of. Very touristy, attractions very well pointed, too crowded, lots of bars, restaurants and life all around us... Vivid place, coffeshops, and generally 2 hours spended with fun

I dropped through this free walking tour mid-way as the whole thing seemed a bit cheesey for my taste. But many people would appreciate having a detailed knowledge exchange on why Amsterdam's Red Light district is an important visit during your city tour.

We had Steve as our guide and he was great. Funny, informative and protective of our group. It was an interesting night and I would highly recommend this tour.

Staying in Centrum

Neighborhood Profile
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
