Neighborhood: Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.

The Saturday Lindenmarkt is along the Lindengracht street and is connected at one end to the more famous Noordermarkt, in a V-shaped formation. Give both a visit on a Saturday, it will be worth your time!

Lindenmarkt is generally more cook food-centred - take note!

I bought a fried fish in batter, and a tray of seasoned prawns from a seafood stall - cost just €3.60 total

Also got myself a cup of pumpkin soup @ (€2) from another stall

White bean soup, sausages and sauerkraut (€7) from yet another stall with sit-down benches.

Fantastic way to enjoy delicious and affordable food!

It was a crowded place on Saturday, but it was not uncomfortable to just flow with the crowd.

There were stalls selling different types of food, among other items like flowers and household items. There were cheeses, bread, waffles, chocolates, soups, sausages, nuts, health food, humus, fishes, fruits, and fresh oysters to be served on the spot - aside from meat and other seafood.

There is also a lot of opportunities for tasting before you buy, so that you don't end up buying something that you do not like.

Right next to Lindenmarkt is the Noordermarkt, which (to us) was a touch less exciting, as the offerings were less "food-oriented".

This is a great Saturday market. There are lots of different stalls, from cheese and bread to antiques. We have a lovely morning walking around looking at all the nic-naks on sale. If you are looking for lovely fresh produce or something to brighten up your home then this is the place to go.
We only brought one thing but that was due to lack of space in our bag going home, if I had had more space I would have brought a lot more things!!!
Don't be afraid to haggle, it might not work but it is always worth a try.

The Lindenmarket is on a straight stretch with a great selection of clothing, books, foods and curiosities. I find this to be a very vibrant mmarket - very friendly sellers!!!

I found the mmost decadent baklava ever at this mmarket, mmade by authentic Greeks. I was early on the mmarket that day, so the baklava was still had somme lingering fresh baked warmmth! Mmmm - I'mm dreamming of buying a whole tray!!!

If you go right at 9am there is space to mmove about mmore freely but somme of the stalls are still being set up. Go closer to noon and later and it is BUSY!!! I find this to be a very vibrant mmarket - with very friendly sellers!

There was the most wonderful selection of food at this farmers market along with extended flea market stalls. We had some of the most beautiful fresh oysters opened for us and eaten right there at the stall, we could have bought so much more beautiful produce if we had been self catering. It all looked really great, breads, cakes, fruit and veg, cheeses and meats. Wonderful and well worth a visit

Jordan is an old part of Amsterdam. It has 4 markets. Linden market is one of the two markets on saturday. It is a local market, almost 120 years old and located on Lindengracht. You can find all your daily needs at this market. Nothing is spectaculair.

What a shame that it is only open once a week! We enjoyed this market the most!! A lot of wonderful food tastings and reasonably priced food. We tasted our way through the market for lunch!

This is a really nice, well-priced market within an easy stroll of the Centraal Station. Loved the freshly made stroopwafel (1.50€) though it was so sweet I couldn't finish it -- and my husband had to try the fish chunks. For food folks, this is a "not to be missed."
