Really not impressed with this gallery. It was the low point of an entire stay at Amsterdam. Cold and Expensive the exhibition was made of poor photography collections. I believe this exhibition is organised by student photographers for student photographers. As a hobbyst I was really unimpressed by the quality of the work.

This is a photography gallery on 3 floors with changing exhibits so your experience will depend on what is showing when you visit. The collection of Mous Lambarat in October 22 was a challenging body of work. Combining traditional images with commercial icons and logos to create stark and incongruous images. Both funny and shocking.

Nice museum, nice space. Really enjoyed the primary exhibition, a poignant retrospective of a single photographer's chronicle of the repressive and grossly inequitable travesty of apartheid in the 1960s. Appreciate that a Dutch museum would wrestle with its history in this way.

Traditional canalside house completely repurposed inside. Really nice atmosphere, cafe in basement (note: no lift access to basement) Main exhibition this visit was work of black photographer Ernest Cole who chronicled Apartheid South Africa at great personal risk. Always something to take away.

Visited FOAM , easy to reach location. Museum was on the small size and directions were confusing . Ara Guler . A Play of Light and Shadow exhibition was thought provoking and beautiful.
The coffee bar was relaxing and cool on a very hot day!

Expected a photography museum (that's what it is called) paid an exorbitant admission fee to see some apparently arty pictures. Only good thing to say is the toilets were clean.

Hello John, We are sorry to hear that your visit to Foam did not meet your expectations. We are always open to feedback from our visitors. On average we show 22 exhibitions per year to highlight a broad spectrum of the medium, varying from emerging talent to world renowned photographers. To give more insight into the work of the exhibited photographers, we offer free guided tours every Thursday evening. These help visitors contextualize the exhibitions currently being shown through further background information and stories related to the artists and their process. We hope this encourages you to come back, with hopefully a more positive experience. Best, Foam

This museum is trying to be hip, which I appreciate but unfortunately the collection is not innovative. The building is done in a nice way but nothing much to look at that is interesting. The top floor is done as an instillation and is the most interesting part of the museum. Just hoped to see some nice photography but it fell short

Three of us visited FOAM on a Saturday afternoon in November 2019. In the “Black Friday” weekend we assumed most people busy shopping. It was relatively quiet, and we had every opportunity to wander around in the building without being disturbed by other visitors. What struck us in particular was the internal layout of the museum. Rather than boring square exposition rooms with long walls, we saw a playful design with many floors, stairs and corners. It was a pleasure to browse though the varous expositions.

On the other hand, we did not stay long with everything displayed. The three of us were very impressed with the ground floor, where Lorenzo Vitturi showed a collection of very colorful photos. Also, my company found a handful of architectoral vista’s that catched their attention. But that was all. Not enough interesting material to stay there for many hours.
