I visited Holland Casino as I was staying across the street at the nearby Leonardo Hotel during my visit to Amsterdam.

Having visited casinos in Canada, and Las Vegas I found my experience here different than the average North American Casino experience.

First there is a 10 Euro cover charge to enter, I suspect this is to deter unruly customers. Also you cannot wear a hat of any kind which is odd compared to other Casinos. Hat + coat must be left with the free coat check at the front (easy process).

The cash withdrawal machines charge a slightly higher withdraw fee compared to American casinos, I recommend having your local bank charge the FX conversion instead of the ATM (their rates will be higher).

The slot floor is relatively small and without much excitement. I mostly saw locals, and the vibe felt more like an arcade than a true gambling experience. The games were the newer ones, lock & it win, triple 7s, Piggy Bonus and the popular train game. I found the machines to play bonuses normally and did not suspect any lower RTP.

There are no courteous drinks, but there is paid bar near the slots.

Casino could use a massive experience overhaul in service and floor quality as tourists visit Amsterdam in thousands.

Overall, I think the experience is worth it if you're truly free for 1-2 hrs, if your short on time I recommend perhaps passing on the opportunity.

Went to the Holland Casino four days in a row while in Amsterdam end of April, 2006. Location is great and sits on a canal by the hard rock very near Leidseplein. There is a small cover charge and no waiting period. The table games are upstairs and some of the female dealers were gorgeous. Roulette and Blackjack were the most popular games. Plenty of action and space available for minimums of 5 euros. Won a tad bit of money - but drinks were not free like they are in Vegas. Many gamblers looking over your shoulder to place a bet in a square tied to your hand. If you are lucky, they hang around. I loved the place.

We were really excited when we found out about this casino, great slot machines (lots to choose from), blackjack and roulette tables. It was a bit difficult getting in as we had to sign up and show our passports. Once we had signed up we thought that would make it easier to enter next time however it didn't. Still a long process. However we got free entry on our second visit so we couldn't complain. Great location and easily accessible. You do however have to pay 5 euro entry fee. Shame we didn't win..

I have visited casino's all around the world and i have never been charged an admission fee!!!! To be charged 5 euro's per person to enter in order to give them more money in gambling is atrocious!!

On top of that we were never met with a smile or warm greeting from the front of house staff to anybody working inside, we were never even offered a drink (I'm not even sure they give complimentary drinks, unlike most other casino's).

My partner and i were ready for an evening of fun and gambling, however, after 30 minutes of playing a few poorly paying machines we called it quits as we couldn't get the bad taste of the admission fee out of our mouths.

The casino would have made far more money from us had we enjoyed the experience (we had a budget of 1000 euro's for the night), than the 10 euro's they extorted from us upon enetering!

Most defnately and categorically the worst casino i have ever been to in my life!!!

Good casino and great ambience on top floor with all the nice lighting .
Charged 5 euros on first entry but after that you are given a card and it’s free. Please note you need a passport or drivers licence on first visit or they will not grant entry.
They have a huge selection of slots on ground floor and upstairs table games, poker, black jack, dice games, Punto Banko which is assume is a regional game. It’s very clean and the staff are good.
Don’t expect to be waited on like in UK casinos. You buy beers at the bar and they only sell half pints. Roughly 4 euros a half pint so probably in line with going rate. I went twice during a trip. First time I only stayed for an hour and never ventured upstairs. Second time I went up, they have a much broader selection of draft beers on first floor where the table games are, star for me was a wheat beer (see photo) and it’s served in a nicer glass. Downstairs there is a choice of only one draft beer, a very plain lager. On my second visit I won around 300 euros playing the 75 cent slot buffalo and found the slots pretty fair.
I never tried the Casino food, but across the street there is a Hard Rock Cafe (which incidentally is home to Eddie Van Halen’a 918v Kramer) which I’d highly recommend a look at. Food over there is good all be it not cheap.

I would definitely visit this casino and general area of Amsterdam again.

Yesterday my husband and I decided to go to the casino in Amsterdam. After they checked our ID’s and found we lived in an Arab country, they had a security personnel take us to a separate room. He basically explain to us that there are some “grey” flagged areas and they are required to do this with “certain” nationalities.
We’ve been to this casino before, and it shows in their records. And we are quite nice and quiet people. There was absolute no reason for this kind of treatment.

Anyway, in the room, after explaining how they do this for war and drug lords not to gamble in their casino, he pulled out a form that has to be filled with all our personal information and on the next page, details about our employment! Like how much money we make and name of the company and the address and phone number of our employers. And he said “if you fill this form, depending on the information I will 99% let you in.”

It was so racist and we’ve never felt so insulted and dehumanized for our nationality like this casino and this specific security personnel made us feel.

We didn’t fill the forms of course and left. But they didn’t care. It was just another day at work for them.

They deleted my review. Please do not go here, place is terrible filler with terrible people. Everyone is rude and not helpful. The security at the front door will turn you away at their pleasure. If they don’t like how you look or your attitude they will turn you away for dress code. My girlfriend was wearing her pajamas and let her in. They turned me away because my pants were too athletic. The security at the front door stopped me and thought I was on drugs because I did not say hello to him at the front. ( I was with 3 other friends and they all said he did not say hello). They have dealers in training and on my black jack table it took 5 minutes for a single hand to be played. The don’t offer free drinks and take a $5 admission fee your first time. It’s a scummy casino ran by scummy people. Save your money Amsterdam is expensive after all. They need to take some tips from Vegas

Worst casino in the world - thuggish and stupid people in charge of door entry who seem to actually take joy in picking on people for no reason. Routine racism and man handling of people in the queue who are literally just standing in a queue and doing nothing.

A scummy casino run by scammy people.

I have been to 100 countries in the world and have literally never encountered such a badly run and scammy place in my life.

Slots are rigged. Roulette table is rigged. Poker dealers don't even seem to know the rules of the game and final punchline? You have to pay to get in.

It's ridiculous, the guy is right, who do they think they are a charging people to come in, like it's an honor to play here. They have no idea what they are doing, keno pays triple all over the rest of the world. They think everyone should pay outrageous money and for what? Holland is greedy overall but this takes the cake. They act as though they are helping people control their gambling 😂 😂 by giving them their money instead? Screw the Dutch

It seems incredibly difficult to find any venue offering any kind of poker in the area. So having found this casino was offering cash poker I was excited. Having registered and reserved my place at the 2/2 game I received an email confirming I was 23rd in the queue. The game was due to start at 8pm but did not state when I had to arrive by. With me being so far down the list I decided to head at 9:30pm.
Once checking my coat in and paying my €5 admission I headed to the poker desk.
I was advised that I had to arrive by 9pm (not stated in email, which was sent in Dutch) and would now be 17th in queue.
Only one 2/2 table open and one 5/5 open with long wait lists.
Disappointed not to get a game, need to have more tables open if there is such demand. Waste of an evening.
