So, I usually stay near Singel and love the resteraunts and shops in the nearby neighborhoods. It seems a bit less crowded and hectic than the main areas of Amsterdam. Some very high end eateries and pubs. Great to walk around.

I think by now I have walked every canal in this City, and I still find this to be the one I always take to walk along to go back to the Central Station...

One of the many canals that circle the city; it originally served as a defensive moat during the Middle Ages. There are several interesting sites as you walk the streets or if are lucky enough to have a canal trip. One of the main gates from Medieval City Wall still exist: Munttoren Tower. Not far from the tower is the... More

Not as pretty as others, but my hotel is adjacent with many services on surrounding streets. Closest to center, Dam Square.

Stayed on the Singel with my son, just up from the Flower Market, which is always busy. Barge trips and bicycles are the norm. Never a dull moment whether eating or drinking or just taking in the quaint waterside houses.

It is another canal that worth seeing, it is clean, it has nice houses and it is beautiful. A trip in a boat can help with the nice views and to put you in a different perspective, but walking around is perfect too.
