The nieuwmarkt is in the center of Amsterdam. You can find a lot of café's, restaurants and bars in this area. The neighbourhood is also close to 'De wallen', better known as the Red Light District.

... as there are several noteworthy cafes around. Some serve craft beer whilst others serve standard fare. All have terraces where you can sit and people watch. I agree that the saturday markets are very good.

We stayed in Amsterdam for 2 days. Nieuwmarky is a tiny square, but something really special about that place. We were staying in the Nieuwmarkt Penthouse on that square and it was amazing - fully recommend. Plenty of bars, shops with flowers, souvenirs, and very...More

Yes, it's a bit seedy and more than a bit touristy, but just look at this architecture! They're not making them like this anymore. There are plenty of bars and eateries here, and just walking around this area can be very invigorating. The Saturday market...More

There is nothing special about this place. You can just walk past it, if you are walking around the city. Our Dutch friends say it's far too expensive, so don't buy souvenirs there

If you want to buy some flowers or souvenirs, this is a place to go. Otherwise, it's not that interesting.

While visiting Amsterdam, we needed to walk to a restaurant that was recommended by our hotel, it was a bit of a walk, and a little late on a Friday night in late May, 2014. We only new the restaurants name, not the street or...More

To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the

historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples
of traditional local architecture – not to mention
