One of the 945 windmills remaining in the Netherlands, from what used to be a solid 10,000+. Located in the company of Rembrandt, who is posing as projecting, the way he is remembered often, it is an excellent stop during a bike ride to Amstelpark.

This hidden (not exactly hidden, but it was unexpected) gem was amazing. The windmill house and pond area was stellar. The beauty of it was incredible. What really was fun, after the windmill, was the gorgeous garden next to it, that is owned by the nearby school, and the old Town just a few feet away. We walked through the... More

We stopped off here on the way to our river cruise only briefly. It was a shame as we were literally only given 10mins to take photos and never knew about the statue on the other side until the bus left and drove past it! Bad on the part of the tour operator and we didn't get the chance to... More

Spring is the right time to visit. Simply because the flowers around the windmill start to bloom. I mean..., what is more Dutch than a windmill and beautiful flowers??? (well, there's a lot actually hehe :) But this spot is just not to be missed if you are around. I saw some people cycling along Amstel River (one of the... More

After a morning in and around Amsterdam we travelled to this windmill. Great place to take photos. Easy walk from our tour bus. Easy to get to if you are not travelling further in Netherlands. Stark contrast to the new wind turbines.

Gorgeous scenery. Beautiful traditional windmill. Short walk from the Novotel (great hotel) or Drentepark on the 4 tram. Must see if you don't have time to go out to the country side.

This windmill, often called 'Rembrandt's Windmill is apparently the only one actually remaining in the Amsterdam area. It is sited in a very pretty place and only takes a few minutes to see since it cannot be entered because people live there. If you are not going to visit the windmills at Kinderdijk near Rotterdam [which I reviewed 12 months... More

Although there's only one and only windmill there, it's still a nice place for a quick stopover to take photos with the windmill. Visit there in the morning when there's less tourist. And yes.. right opposite there's a mini field with animals.. :)
