About
The Amsterdams Kaashuis is the largest shop owned by Henri Willig in Amsterdam. Our shop staff will welcome you in traditional Dutch costumes for a cheese-making demonstration. In addition to the world-renowned Edam and Gouda cheese, Henri Willig also makes sheep and goat cheese. Our cheeses are plain or are seasoned with cumin, pepper, fenugreek or chili peppers. You can sample these varieties yourself. The attractive shop sells a wide variety of Dutch treats and souvenirs.

There is much to do and see and the museums are amazing. However, there is trash in the streets and an overall feeling of dirty. The cyclists have the right of way and we were constantly screaming warnings of Bikes! The bike lanes are well maintained, but the sidewalks for pedestrians are uneven and dangerous. I will not be going back.

..Definitely visit one of their shops if you can! My fiancé and I happened into the store near the flower market on a quick three-day layover in Amsterdam earlier this month. We were not disappointed! They have samples of most, if not all, their yummy cheeses out on display, including a delicious honey mustard and some crunchy bread/crackers to go with. Oh, and can't forget the stroopwafels.. The staff was friendly and they will let you know which cheeses would be legal to bring back home (for US, the pasteurized cheese..). Literally brought home about $100 EU worth of a variety of gouda cheese... : p (The herb & garlic and pesto are some of our favorites.) Then I just found out that they can ship to the US! Bringing it home ourselves was cheaper, but it's great if you want to give these delicious goodies as gifts! Since Amsterdam has a ton of cheese shops all over the place, we walked into several, but returned to Henri Willig's store because we loved the taste and presentation. Clean, bright and attractive store, with lots of samples, delicious cheese, and friendly staff. What's not to like?

We were introduced to Henri Willig when we visited Holland and the cheese is delish!
Fortunately, we can get it by ordering online, so even though we are in Canada, we can still eat the cheese periodically.

The cumin Gouda is amazing, as well as the Truffle. Recommended!

We entered to the shop because it seemed a great party inside. My husband and I were determined to just visit and not buy anything.. did not know we were seriously mistaken.
The local samples the diverse cheeses, dressings with bread sticks on round tables around the shop. The staff is always available to help you.

We finally bought the pesto cheese (delicious) and natural goat cheese. The balsamic mustard was really good. Unfortunately we could not buy the normal size (370 gr) because of the airport regulations (under 100 ml). Instead, a woman from the staff sold us a little glass jar (50 ml). It was a little gem. Would recomend commerce to start selling the quantity of 100 since most people that buy these sort of things are tourists that have to fly back home.

I highly reccomend this shop and will definitely return!

I spent ages in here looking at all the cheeses and talking to the shop assistants about the varying kinds of cheeses, how they are made, storage, export etc and they were very knowledgeable! I bought some cheese and chutneys home to the UK and would definitely go again!

We have been to HENRI WILLIG Cheese Shop in Zaanse Scans so many times and enjoyed tasing so many varieties of Cheese, and have bought so many every time we visited. However, this time due to Covid-19 tasting was not that much possible since every piece of cheese was served in a stick! Also, it was quite empty this time and never seen such an empty store!
But, we are very happy as bought some cheese as we always do!
