Great art house cinema in the Amsterdam Pijp neighborhood. I love the somewhat alternative atmosphere, without being overwhelmingly political correct. Like some other Amsterdam art house cinemas are. There is a nice bar where you can have drink before or after a movie. And the best part is: you can take your drink, doesn't matter what, inside the theatre. What's... More

I like this place. It is the closest arthouse cinema to my home in Amsterdam. This is small and quaint, with just a few screens. On Mondays, it typically has two showings with English subtitles. Otherwise most of the foreign films have Dutch subtitles. Rarely are the films in English. The bar extends upstairs too, and has a good selection... More

A done up Bauhaus-style historic buiding. Nicely off the beaten track on Ceintuurbaan in De Pijp. Bar and food available. Lots of cafés next doors. Rialto has special offers for those who want to lunch or dine in the area. Excellent programming! Seats in the screening areas extremely comfortable. Staff laid-back but caring.

Rialto is an arthouse, with a wide variety and original choice of films. Mostly feature films but fine documentaries too, from all over the world. It shows diffrent films every day (from noon till midnight) in their three venues. "Rialto's programming is aimed at European and non-Western artistic productions.", as it says on its Dutch website, therefore this translation: "Rialto... More

Staying in De Pijp

Neighborhood Profile
De Pijp
Bustling Albert Cuypstraat serves as the main drag through De Pijp and the location for Albert Cuyp Market, the largest and most famous of Amsterdam’s many outdoor markets. Beyond this sometimes-frantic thoroughfare, tiny lanes beckon urban explorers in search of the latest trends and hidden gems. Nearly half the residents living in De Pijp are foreigners and a good number of them are students. Here you'll find a multitude of ethnic restaurants, great cafes and bars, and a brilliant array of locally owned shops, all catering to a broad range of budgets and tastes.
