More than just a place to go..it’s about people, genuine, a scene for punk life & soul, not only, first & foremost independent, non-profit/commercial, MUSIC… bands from all over the world playing, etc... workshops, theatre. shows, kids programs.. Volkskeuken.... www.binnenpret.org Tues-Fri from 19.oo - 21.oo. Call before, 020-6790712. , they cook for up to 50 people / solo or groups...veggie / vegan food.... 5E eat as much you need… nice idea, relax, enjoy .. more places like that & our world will be better place to go...

OCCII is a self-organised music venue at the base of the Vondelpark which forms part of the amazing Binnenpret complex of autonomous activities... These include a cafe, an anarchist bookshop and a hacklab. Squatted in the 1980s, now legalised but not taking a cent in subsidies. Check their website for more infos!

Last time i was there to see Negativland. The venue is weirdly shaped, but the sound is great. Always a good night.

Great cultural center and concert venue ideal for a night out. The place is not too big with a good bar scene and very good level of events.

The good: for 7 euros we had roughly 4 hours of live music, with inexpensive beer. All three put on good shows, two of the three I really enjoyed. Staff is largely volunteer, and were friendly and efficient at scanning the busy bar for "who's next?"
The not-so-bad: well, if you're looking for a place to sit, the selection is limited. Benches are built in along the walls. It's also not unusual in small music venues in the Netherlands.
The odd: their website says there's a cafe, a sauna and more. I didn't look for it, so now I need to go back. The horror. And beware - buses and trams stop around midnight, meaning it's a bicycle, a walk, a nightbus, or a taxi from a nearby stand.

My girlfriend and I were staying at the nearby citizenM Amsterdam hotel, we noticed one of our mutually favourite bands 'The Garden' were playing the night we arrived. good atmosphere and live sound. Locals were inquisitive as too why two "non locals" had turned up but were generally friendly.
A great location at the bottom of Vondelpark. This venue was good fun, super cheap beers / wine - this is the perfect low key venue. This is an honest, small venue and not trying too hard to be 'cool'. Perfect.
