Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.

Lovely looking restaurant with good food but terrible service. We had a reservation for 8pm but upon arrival we were told there wasn't a table so didn't get seated until 20.25. Once seated we were ignored for a further 20 minutes until we decided to wave someone over. Our drinks then took a further 20 minutes to arrive (actually my husbands beer didn't arrive at all) and then the pizza took 1.5 hours to arrive. All in all a very long wait with no updates in between and the waitress didn't look over once. She wasn't friendly or apologetic about anything. On the plus side the pizza was tasty. Wouldn't recommend unless you're not in a rush and don't mind being ignored.

Mazzo looks very nice but the service is really bad. I waited more than 1h30 for a bruschetta that never arrived and had to leave without eat after watching everybody around me being served.
I went after to a "slow food " restaurant where I was very fast and well served.

Trendy Italian brasserie. We were pleased to see many locals eating here as well as tourists like us. Our waiter was so helpful! The pizza dough is one of the best I've eaten, and hubby enjoyed his pizza too even though in error the kitchen omitted the meal from his as well as mine! would happily eat here again!

So I called in to book a table for four and was told that we can just turn up and wait for a few minutes and seated immediately... Which is what we did. Until we got there, the place was packed and we were eventually seated by the front door which kindly blew a fresh gust of freezing cold smokey air (due to the smokers constantly walking in and out). Now, I wouldn't mind this until I asked if we could be seated inside the restaurant as we clearly called in earlier to book an appropriate table. The manager(the guy with the tan and shaven head) was incredibly rude and was not understanding just said 'no, not possible, you should've called or arrived earlier'. We also brought it up with the waitress who said 'you're lucky to be even eating here'. This, on top of the rediculously pricey wine, were the perfect ingredients for a poor review. The food was good but when you get treated on the same level as a plastic bottle, reminds you why the dutch culture of tipping is non existent.

If you go to Mazzo, you're paying to be surrounded by arrogant and ignorant staff who obviously do not understand their job roles.

Overall: total crap but the prawns were juicy

The staff here are beyond rude, borderline aggressive. We left after we ordered Champagne and were poured cheap Prosecco that the manager claimed was Champagne , when I told him I didn't like Prosecco, he told me 'if you order champagne in a Chinese restaurant you get Champagne from China'. Charming. We cancelled our order and left.

I went yesterday night for dinner with a friend. Reason is that it looked very nice from the outside and always busy. So I thought it was a great place to go, even if the menu looked a bit overpriced for Italien cuisine.

I ordered Ravioli ricotta spinacci and my friend Carbornara. What we got looked exactly the ravioli you can buy at Albert Hein in the fresh pasta department. I think that it's actually come from there as it tastes the same. I called the waitress and told her it was not good and not real Italien pasta. She answered to me that the pasta were coming from Italy (!!!) but as they arrive FROZEN (!!!!) maybe the taste was not so good!!! I could not believe she was telling that! I paid 14 eur for a plate of frozen pasta. I don't even want to talk about the carbonara. My daughter of 5 year old can do better. Never again. If you want Italian cuisine, it's just the place to avoid. Scandalous!!

It looks so nice from the outside! Dark, cosy and welcoming with a trendy industrial style, exposed brickwork and the MAZZO name lit up huge above the bar in bare lightbulbs.

'Feeling at home - the new going out' the website says. Sounds good to me.

Mazzo is popular, and you can see why. But the experience falls way short of the looks or the hype. As others have said, the service is awful. The maitre d' was arrogant, surly and rude. He should be sacked. We were moved twice, firstly on our request (having been sat by the toilets, even though we booked over a week in advance) and again to make way for a group. Why he chose to move us rather than push the other free tables together onlly he knows.

Then the starter came - an inauthentic and unadventurous Italian mezze that one could have bought and cobbled together from Albert Hein. Then our pizzas took over an hour. I say 'over an hour' because we don't know when they eventually came; we said we were leaving, kicked off at the maitre 'd, got our money back and went off into the night to try and find something decent to eat.

If you find yourself in Mazzo, hungry and waiting endlessly for your main to arrive, I'd advise you to do the same,

Very nice building and then all goes rapidly down hill. We had booked in advance and were kept waiting at the bar while they ‘found’ a table. Three of us were then seated at a 70x70cm table (we asked for a bigger table and were told they were all booked despite several tables remaining unoccupied throughout the evening; basically kept that way as we were already there and some other unsuspecting group may come in). 30mins of waving until we could get someone to take the drinks order then another 45mins before the food order was taken. Food was extremely mediochre (pizza looked great but was actually quite burnt, pasty was flat and soggy). Total "couldn’t-give-a-damn" service throughout. Restaurant is run by the Supper Club chain and clearly has one purpose:- get money out of people and give them as little in return as possible. Seriously avoid this place

I have no words to describe how terrible the service was in this restaurant! Not only was the service poor, the management and staff were so rude! They forgot our reservation which thankfully one of my friends had proof of, offered us prosecco to compensate a long delay for a table and then charged us for it. We had to argue to get it removed from the bill. We had no choice but to go for the sharing platter. We got our our main course almost 3 and a half hours after arriving. Do not go to this restaurant or you will be seriously disappointed!!!! AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!!

Great looking eatery and very busy. Average food served by disinterested and almost surly wait staff. Apparently a flute glass of over sweet, runny sorbet is a dessert. Awful! Will never go back.
