For my fiancee birthday a visit to Carré for Scapino ballet with band Blaudzun. Carré is a temple for high culture events but lately it is dedgrading probably because government doesn't hold high and expensive cultural expos in high regard. As could be witnessed today with Scapino suffering the same and sacrificing with a performance featuring clownesque appearances 3 balls in the air, guy on big ball balancing the scary part is balancing on a tight rope... You can easily fall of not making a choice being a fast fart Chinese state circus or making a statement. I could tell by my favourite bald woman dancer and her counterpart (love them both, reason I visit scapino) that they are making an exit. Please do! Go back to experimental high state of the art that puts a smile on your weary faces. Must say, you both were great as ever! Thank you...

🎅🎅🎅My partner and myself love to come to this beautiful theatre in downtown Amsterdam once in a while and especially during the festive season. This evening we had the wonderful opportunity to see the 37th edition of the World Christmas Circus with quite a few nice acts this year. The theatre itself has quite a diverse programme, throughout the year, both from the Netherlands itself and quite often from abroad. Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year 2024 to all of you!!!🌲🌲🌲

PROS
* Amazing theatre in every way
* Classic seating arrangement
* Impressive interior concert hall
* Fantastic acoustics which are not painful or too loud
* Beautiful outside structure and appearance, especially when illuminated at night
* Varied and wonderful line-up of acts and performances
* Helpful young staff members
* Coat and bag check storage services apparently free of charge
* Food, dinner and drinks offered too
* Prices are very reasonable compared to other venues and locations
CONS
* Some seats are obstructed view
* Getting to or leaving seats in the circular raised sections could mean passing at the knees of fifteen or more people
* Hallways and staircases are narrow and crowded and obstructed before and after performances
"I VISITED THIS PLACE"...
... because I specifically came from Israel to Amsterdam in order to see two performances of the Analogues at this Koninklijk Carre Theatre. It was great and fantastic show and I loved it so much that I returned again on the next night for another identical performance (see my many photos of them, shown from two sides of the hall)!! I told the person next to me both times that I had traveled all the way from Israel to see the performances- neither was impressed by that.
The building and the concert area is fantastic and classic and I liked it so much. There are apparently non permanent seats on the main floor opposite and in front of the stage. I sat in a low side tier of partially obstructed seats for both shows, but on opposite sides (see again my photos).
The building is very beautiful and special, especially when illuminated and seen from the bridge over the canal (see my "helpful" photos).
There were very many special unique people crowded into the aisles and passageways both before and after the performance.
I'd be happy to return again... for another performance by the Analogues!

Went to see show in this beautiful Theatre. Human acts ok, they have a choice of what to do. Animal acts awful, so so cruel. If I had known there were animals performing I would not have gone. I cried and was on the verge of walking out. Could not believe the Dutch people accept this form of entertainment.

This is a gem of a theater on the Amstel River. We saw many great shows here : ballet, theater, circus. In 2004 the theater was renovated for 28 million euro's. Since then leg space has improved considerably and from all seats one has good views. Recently we saw War Horse here, a great show. During intermissions one can stroll along the Amstel, and enjoy the view of the Skinny Bridge.

We were fortunate to buy tickets at the last minute for the final showing of Amsterdam's Winter Circus. This was the 29th year of the circus. We are so glad that we did not miss this amazing show. With approximately 12 acts and an intermission, the 3 hours flew by, leaving us wanting more. Though we were in the second to last row, due to the late purchase of the tickets, our view was amazing. We would most definitely see the Winter Circus again or any other production for that matter in the Carre Theater. The interior is beautiful and the view is amazing from any seat in the house. Check out their schedule before leaving home and book tickets for a production while you are in Amsterdam.

Went here last night to watch the second Glen Hansard gig in Amsterdam.
We arrived from central on the Metro which took us to one street away from the venue. The walk along the canal really set the tone for the evening. The front of the venue was awesome and after having our electronic tickets scanned we were given instructions on where to go.
As the warm-up act was performing we were unable to enter the theatre so we went up to the bar. The classy set up with doors to the balcony which allows you to look over the canal whilst enjoying a drink and atmosphere.
Upon entry into the actual theatre, we were told where our seats were and headed towards them. What struck me the most was how beautiful the inside of the venue was. A decent size, with a touch of class but extremely intimate.
Glen had a 9 piece band with him and the show was out o this world He was able to perform without a microphone for two songs and the sound travelled with ease.
- Fantastic venue
- Great friendly and helpful staff
- Amazing Gig

We were given tickets by my son for a show in the Carre, it was my first time in this theater, its a great old building inside and out. On the outside there is a balcony were you can stand whilst drinking a cold or warm drink from the theaters bar. Inside there is access to all levels of the theater which is two floors . We were on the top level but had a great view of the stage. There are very clean and bright rest rooms/bathroom and places to sit. There is a clock room which you have to pay for and a bar/cafe serving drinks and small snacks like crisps and nuts. there are people to show you to your seat and also help if need be.

Went there for a seated rock concert. The place is really beautiful. Enough spots to have drinks and comfortable seats.

Hello. I have a chance to attend a performance at this concert hall. Does anyone know which seat provides a better experience and easier unobstructed viewing- the middle of row 15 on the floor of the first row of the upstairs gallery? Which do you think that I should choose? Thanks!!

Ik weet niet of ik beter kaartjes rij 2 balkon midden of rij 2 parterre midden moet kiezen.
Written May 21, 2019
Antwoord is afhankelijk van de voorstelling die je wilt bezoeken. I.g.v. 'one-person' show: kies voor parterre. Bij optreden van een grote groep, en zeker als er circus is, zit je prima op midden loge of midden eerste balkon.

Hello
Does anyone know if there is an option to change the language on the website? I'm struggling to book tickets in Dutch. Thank you
Written August 11, 2017
Google the theatre and it will translate the majority of the booking process for you. The link on here takes you to the Dutch version.
