My 20 something son and I visited the Artis in his recent visit to Amsterdam. We enjoyed all the animals and the lovely grounds. The aquarium was an added bonus.

It's look nice but not that many animals and it is quite expensive. Also it seems like there's no reasonable way to get around without double track paths quite a lot if you want to see it all.
