About
Go on a interactive journey at The Heineken Experience at Heineken's oldest brewery. The tour is mostly self-guided, with guides at certain key points. Here, you can learn about the history, gain insight into the brewing process, and customise your own Heineken bottle or glass at the souvenir shop. At the end of the tour, enjoy two Heinekens, and even get the chance to pour your own draught. – Tripadvisor

Neighborhood: De Pijp
Bustling Albert Cuypstraat serves as the main drag through De Pijp and the location for Albert Cuyp Market, the largest and most famous of Amsterdam’s many outdoor markets. Beyond this sometimes-frantic thoroughfare, tiny lanes beckon urban explorers in search of the latest trends and hidden gems. Nearly half the residents living in De Pijp are foreigners and a good number of them are students. Here you'll find a multitude of ethnic restaurants, great cafes and bars, and a brilliant array of locally owned shops, all catering to a broad range of budgets and tastes.

- Jérémy DGeneva, Switzerland407 contributionsFunnyGood interactive and dynamic experience. The staff is fun, creating a good-natured atmosphere. From the history of the brand, the brewery to the making of the beers. All ending in a discotheque atmosphere with beers and music. - Lisa H28 contributionsHeineken experienceBooked tour for 2.15pm and arrived about 2 hours early and they said it wasn't a problem and we could start our tour straight away. All staff were really helpful, informative and enthusiastic. It's a self guided tour, with stations where a guide will tell you all about it. It was all in English, with audio description available in different languages. You are given half a Heineken and they tell you the best way to drink it and what to look for in a very humorous way, then you go on the Heineken experience (which are big rooms where you become part of the process, through images on the walls or ceiling). A novel way of experiencing it. There are opportunities to buy a custom bottle (18 euros) or green screen pictures, which we didn't do. Finally you go to the bar, as you get 2 beer tokens included. 0% alcohol is available if you want it . Really enjoyed this experience and would recommend it.Visited February 2024Traveled with friendsWritten February 15, 2024
- JakeExeBrisBristol, United Kingdom20 contributionsCorporate and outdated but good value overallWorth a visit as it’s good value for money - 3 medium beers included. However they cram as many people through as possible so it feels inauthentic & corporate. The 4d cinema element is outdated and could do with an upgradeVisited February 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten February 17, 2024
- pdav10Naples, Italy831 contributionsEducational and fun experience. The historic building where Heineken was born is structured on three levels. In the first part, the guide tells the origins of the famous brand and how it spread throughout the world. There is an exhibition of the ancient machinery, bottles, metal barrels in which the various steps of the process took place. Then, there is the playful, interactive and non-interactive part, which is very fun. At this stage, they make you taste a small beer, indicating the correct way to see the different colors of yellow and the banana aroma. Then, there is the actual tasting, with two different beers, normal and silver, in an environment that looks like a disco pub. Here, there is also the possibility of trying your hand at the bartender's job, pouring beer with the help of a guide. Finally, once on the terrace, you can enjoy Amsterdam from above while tasting a beer-based cocktail. Instructive and playful experience at the same time.Visited February 2024Traveled with friendsWritten February 17, 2024
- EJ53 contributionsCouldn’t recommend enough!A fab experience from start to finish!! Staff are very knowledgable and engaging. A very fun, interactive tour with lots to do and see. Top tip - Staff give out free drink tokens if you answer questions and have banter with them. The DJ at the bar at the end of the tour was fantastic! Great atmosphere & music! I’d say this tour is great for those who don’t drink Heineken too.Visited February 2024Traveled with friendsWritten February 18, 2024

Included in the tour are 3 small Heineken beers for you to try! Staff are very friendly and will even let you pour your own beer. Would definitely recommend to tourists visiting amsterdam for the first time.Visited February 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten February 19, 2024

- bookdeaverWashington, United Kingdom30 contributionsCan’t not goInteresting, informative and interactive. Tour was provided in English and also time to wander freely was included as part of tour. Lifts available to get to different floors. Toilets and gift shop available. Tokens provided during tour for 2 glasses of Heineken to try afterwards in bar area. Some people may find the bar area a bit loud. An alcohol free option was also available to taste. We spent about 2 hours here.Visited February 2024Traveled with friendsWritten February 21, 2024
- LauraNazare, Portugal142 contributionsIt exceeded expectations! This experience was so worth it! From the beginning of the tour to the last moment. It is a fun, cultural and interactive activity. In the end we can stay at the bar, enjoy a beer and socialize with other people. Each part of the tour is different from the previous one and that alone makes the experience positive. I recommend!Visited February 2024Traveled with friendsWritten February 27, 2024

Very nice guided tour of the former brewery in Amsterdam city centre.
Tickets for this guided tour can be booked in advance online or on site at a self-service terminal. Pricewise, there is no difference between the two variants. Tickets are always valid for a time slot of 15 minutes.
During the guided tour, which is done partly by guides and partly by an audio guide, which you can access by means of a QR code on your mobile phone, offers a lot of interesting information. Since no more beer is brewed here, the tour is designed for visual experiences.
During the tour you will receive a total of three drinks. At the end of the day, a visit to the roof-top bar is possible for an additional fee.
If you like beer and especially Heineken, you should not miss this experience during a visit to Amsterdam.

I’m not a beer drinker and was travelling on my own, yet I still enjoyed my experience here. I bought my ticket direct online from the website and arrived at the given time, you’ll still need to wait around 10-15 mins in the queue to get this scanned and get your tokens - in addition to the tokens you also get a free taster mid tiur. There are friendly and highly enthusiastic tour guides in key areas, lots of signage and things to look at with some history to Heineken thrown in. The ride isn’t a ride, it’s standing in a roo with big projections over screens and is a visual experience. The rooftop bar is worth it as you get lots of space to yourself and great views of the city, and it’s not crowded up there

We have spent 7 days in Amsterdam and have pretty much hit all the top attractions and museums. I was most excited about Heineken and Anne frank.
Sadly Heineken fell short in my expectations. For a start they let too many people in at once… we got there at opening and the place was rammed. Literally shuffling around shoulder to shoulder without any opportunity to stop and look at the exhibits. The 4D experience was just some graphics in a large room that is very dated now. Some of the interactive stuff looked fun but so busy you couldn’t really get close to
It to have a go. The bar at the end is two half pints in a crammed basement with little seating to encourage you to down it and go! The roof bar was nice, but again you buy a token to go up there that is just one drink, with no option to buy a second. We did all this in under 1.5 hours of which 30 mins was in the roof bar! I enjoyed the museum side of it but would have liked more time to take it in. Ok for a rainy day or as a change to the museums, but underwhelmed

Let's start from the price, 23 euros per person, i.e. the same price as entry to the Van Gogh Museum. From the very high price I expect an immersive visit, with many explanations and interesting activities. Before booking I read on the site that if you don't know English well it's absolutely not a problem, because there is an audio guide in Italian that you can download to your mobile phone.
Once you reach the entrance, they scan the tickets and queue up to enter, even though the tickets are divided by time slot. Finally the tour starts and a guy starts explaining, in very fast English and obviously we don't understand everything, but it doesn't matter. No mention of the audio guide, but we see that there is a QR code on the wall and fortunately it is the link to download it. We are then guided into the next room, where point 1 of the audio guide starts, and the boy who accompanied us disappears into thin air. We never saw him again in any other room. So we decide to join another group led by a girl, who however speaks in English into a microphone and therefore we can barely hear the audio guide. We arrive in the main room, where there are the original copper beer containers and I admit that it is really very fascinating. However, we see other groups in which group activities are carried out, such as trying to prepare beer in a basin: no one has shown us anything of the kind.
The historical part ends here and so does the audio guide.... We continue walking following the flow of people and we arrive at the modern experience, where quizzes are taken to win beer-shaped pins: the level of our English does not it is absolutely sufficient to be able to understand the questions and answer them. Fortunately, however, at least they offer us a first 15 cl beer.
I found the "modern" experience (corridors with lights, music, interactive walls) totally useless, maybe it will be nice for children or for those who want to take some photos for social media.
At the end of everything there is the bar and here you have two beers available for 0.25. A narrow space, barely enough to contain all the people standing who have accumulated there for who knows how long. Non-existent seating and no possibility to buy some snacks. We went on a Monday, I can't imagine what that environment is like on the weekend.
Sincerely?? If I could go back I would definitely find a better way to spend all this money.

Wow. I have just been to the whoop whoop Heineken Experience and was shocked with how bad it was. It certainly feels like Heineken have outsourced this to a second rate ‘digital’ marketing company full of teenagers. Other than the 4 ingredients (which are all listed on the bottle) I managed to survive the entire tour without learning a thing about the product.
The guides act like they work for Disneyland and don’t seem to realise that it is an adult experience.
The entire duration was exhausting listening to the guides wanting to whip everyone up into a childish frenzy whist nothing about the actual product was mentioned. For those readers of this that live in the U.K., it felt like this was an awful experience which was one of Lord Sugar’s tasks on The Apprentice!
We were a group of 4 and it cost nearly €100 and felt that we got ripped off. Literally we got zero information or value for this price. I can’t recommend more enthusiastically that this is a waste of money and time.
Heineken - who is this tour aimed at? I am in my 40s and loved your beer all over the world. I have a lower opinion of your company now. I recommend whoever is responsible for this (if they keep their job long) pop over to Brugges and go on the Brugse Zot Brewery tour. This may help them understand where expectations are for a ‘brewery tour’. I understand that you are one of the world’s biggest brand and probably desire to be leaders in these types of experiences, but for our party, you were way of the mark and have sadly damaged our option of Heineken.

I had been to the Guinness museum in Dublin so I was expecting something like this. Instead it was very different. We paid €23 each to experience the one and a half hour tour with two beers each because the one that reached the terrace had no seats until 4.15pm. After a couple of super crowded rooms where a boy in English very quickly explained some notions about beer production, everything else is a nice multimedia journey but a bit childish and certainly not museum-like. A little disappointing, but still nice for young people. The piece with the copper boilers and the production process diagrammed on the wall is beautiful. Also there were quiz games but the guides spoke too quickly in English.

The Heineken Experience is definitely a touristy activity, but we had a blast! It’s a completely high-tech, interactive experience that’s fun and unique, though there are certainly more intimate brewery or distillery tours out there.
The Pros:
First and foremost, the staff is fantastic—friendly, funny, and genuinely happy to be there. They were more than willing to answer questions and made the experience enjoyable. The interactive displays and high-tech features were impressive and added an extra layer of fun. The beer itself was good, though the free drink options were very limited (alcoholic or nonalcoholic).
The Cons:
It can feel very overcrowded, especially during peak times. Locker space is limited, and they stopped accepting coats around 5 PM, which was inconvenient. We also did the rooftop experience, but since it was raining, we couldn’t sit or hang out outside, and the one drink included felt a bit underwhelming for the extra cost.
Overall, I’m glad I did it as it was a fun and different kind of tour, but I probably wouldn’t do it again or recommend it to someone with limited time in Amsterdam. It’s worth trying if you’re looking for something lighthearted and entertaining, but it’s not a must-see.

Decided this was one of the first things I wanted to do when visiting Amsterdam. Arrived at the museum and we could book at the entrance, opted for the tour tickets which had the rooftop experience included . Tours go every 15 minutes and it is a semi self guided tour. We got to learn about the history of the building, the company itself and the brewing process, all of the tour guides were very well informed and would happily answer any questions that guests had. The 360 experience was also a highlight, you become the beer and go round the bottling process. We were also given a little taster along the way with how you should drink the lager and the notes you should taste when doing so. The tour also included 2 free drinks in the Heineken bar and this had the 3 different options; Heineken, Heineken Silver and Heineken 0. Once we spent around 45 minutes in the bar we then proceeded to our Rooftop Experience. We got a free cocktail when we entered the Heineken Studio which actually very nice and would try again. The views of the city from the rooftop are great and can see for miles. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who is in Amsterdam because it is definitely value for money and you will have a great time.

Very interesting I must say, maybe I wouldn't go back a second time but that's my personal opinion.
It begins with an explanation of the history of the factory and of Heineken beer in general, of the Heineken family that is behind this extraordinary success.
We then move on to the production department where the various decanters are shown, from the historical ones to the current ones.
A passage into a room where the bottling process is shown and where there is also the possibility of purchasing bottles by personalizing them via a touchscreen monitor and paying with a credit card.
A couple of amusement park-style rooms, where the aim is to provide a visual and sensorial experience, the first with screens, the second with a vibrating platform, in my opinion nothing special.
Finally you arrive at the bar where you are offered a couple of beers for 0.25 which becomes 3 if you count the one given immediately after finishing the tour.
It is possible to try your hand at tapping beer, with a free pin depicting a mug of beer and another 0.25 mug full of beer.
If you can still stand :-) obligatory passage to the internal shop where you can buy Heineken souvenirs.
Happy drinking!!!

After trying to get into Anne Frank house and realising you have to book months in advance to get in, we decided to go to the Heineken museum for a couple of hours. Wish we hadn't bothered. The tour and museum is a tourist trap and should be avoided. The walk through has a few information boards and briefly tells the story of the brewery before leading you through various over stimulating 3D experiences with a section on how the brand has sponsored major football tournaments in recent years. All quite limited and boring. You're then taken through to the old brewing vats (again, nothing to see there) where no information or detail is given and staff don't seem at all interested. Two coupons for two small glasses of beer in the nightclub at the end of the tour. You are better off spending the money down one of the local pubs.
