About
Plan B is the place to be, so they say, to shoot some pool on one of our 13 full size tables, watch sports on our big screens (yes, we have all the channels), either near the bar or in the luxurious smoking room, play some boardgames, or just hang out and have a few pints. You're more than welcome, whatever your plans are....

visited Amsterdam for a weekend in July with a couple of friends to play some pool. Saturday night - no wait for a table. staff were friendly and English speaking. Pool tables and cues were in good condition. Also big screens which were showing latest sports. The staff regulary came round to ask if we were ok for drinks. there is a good selection of beers including craft beers

What can be expected of a pool place? Dark place, a few (old) tables, a bar and hopefully some nice people. Your average pool place right? You come, you play, you leave. Reasonable time spent.
Not PlanB. It is somewhat hard to find, hidden behind a small alley halfway down the Overtook but boy is worth visiting. It starts with the building. Who would expect to find a pool hall in a church!! Yes it has been changed a bit for pooling purposes but I'm sure the almighty doesn't mind that it has been changed into a better place.
The light through the modern flamed glass, the height of the space and the wall paintings and arts make it a welcome place to be. For all the times I have been there the music was pleasant and never annoys in volume, sound and genre.
The tables are great and are very well maintained. There is plenty of room to move around and shoot the balls from anywhere around the table. When the place is full there is still plenty of room not to spoil the game.
As for the bar and staff I can only say that it all fits, or better, adds to the good vibe of the place. Staff is very helpful and just as good in the English language. Any question can be asked it seems. The bar is a fine place to sit and talk to people/staff or just watch the sports channels on monitors all over the place or on the big projection on the far end.
The kitchen is mainly for snacks and small stuff but a good concept is that you can order via the internet or phone (they'll do it for you if you like) any food delivery service. They'll make the table for you, pay the delivery on arrival and add it to your final bill in the end. Meanwhile you play your game of pool and voilà, food is served. GREAT!
I'm not a smoker, but there is even a grand smokers room one floor up (I imagine where the organ and/or the choir used to be. You can even play pool there too with a nice view on the pooltables below.
A fine and easy going bar, not the regular pool/game joint we are generally so used to.

This isn't just your run of the mill poolhall, this is more of an experience if not anything else. Tucked away at the end of an alley of the main street called "Overtoom" in Amsterdam you might think that it's going to be a seedy place, filled with all kinds of hustlers and cutthroats and you'd be right. Worn out tables and poolsticks bent in every direction but straight. Bartenders who would spit in your beer to water it down. That's what the place looked like when it was used as a locale for a narcotics trafficking gang in a cops series, earning the place television fame.
Of course the place looks brilliant, the staff is excellent and the atmosphere is very relaxed. Come on over if you want to play a game of pool on every imaginable level. Or just have a drink of whatever's your poison at the bar. Or play some darts, or one of the boardgames, or..., or...., kind of anything really.
Forget the windmills, the tulips, the red light district, smoking a blunt, spliff, doobie. If you want that mindaltering, lifechanging experience when visiting Amsterdam, get your butt down to Plan B!

From the moment we walked in we were made to feel very welcome indeed.
It’s only 15 min tram ride away from Centraal Station.
English speaking gentleman behind the bar. Very helpful
We ate. Drank and played pool.
Spent a few hours there.
And it’s excellent value for money. Was only 35 euro for an hours pool. 4 drinks (alcoholic) 2 sandwiches. And 2 sides.
Really impressed with this place.

We walked up to this place from our hotel around the corner for something to do.
Excellent pool bar with lots of tables, great music and helpful staff.
We arrived not knowing what to do and only being able to speak English.
Great space to spend time.

My friend and I ended up going there 4 days in a row and playing pool. The staff is super friendly (one of them made sure we got different beers every time, all VERY good tasting) they have many 9ft tables, including 2 in a smoking area (where other sorts of smoking also is allowed)
If you like pool, this is a MSUT when in amsterdam :) Tram line #1 gets you there :)

By far the best poolhall in Amsterdam. Love the vibe, good tables and very friendly staff.
Also good place to drink some beers at the start of your evening.

Nice, comfortable pool hall, with a cosy snug area with coffee tables and loungers. Decent bar. Very friendly.
The tables are well kept. Nice fast cloth. Good players will appreciate the tables.
Plus, the club feels like ... a club, open and friendly. I'll be back.
Not obvious location. On Overtoom, but set back in a courtyard. Number 1 tram gets you there.

We were on a city break in Amsterdam in 2010 and picked up a flyer for this place at our hotel. It was not on our original agenda for the trip, but as keen pool players, we decided to spend an evening there.
Tucked away off Overtoom (served by number 1 tram) we were very pleasantly surprised as we walked in: about a dozen American pool tables in very good order and a full-size snooker table!
The staff made us very welcome and we spent a very enjoyable evening there - so much so that we went back on a return visit in 2011.
