Full of authentic neighborhood bars and restaurants, Jordaan is a bit off the typical tourist path - a must see for those willing to wander a bit.

One of the prettiest sections of Amsterdam. Beautiful Pakhuis (Warehouse) building and homes of the very rich. Architecture is beautiful and very clean streets. (Be careful of the bikes here and everywhere in Amsterdam!!)

Rented an Apartment on the Bloemgracht Canal here. Ate at many local restaurants and shopped in many small, local businesses. Convenient to public transportation. Felt very safe here. A very enjoyable part of Amsterdam.

This area is my favourite in the whole of amsterdam. Mostly there are locals drinking beer in the sun, outside on benches or cute cafe's. Also, the art galleries are very intimate and have very good contemporary art. In sum, this is a romantic side...More

We took a boat cruise through the Jordaan area and the views all along the canals and river were splendid. We were able to closely view stately old buildings, homes, bridges, and ships converted into house boats tied up along docks and water. It was...More

We rented an amazing house in this area and we were not disappointed. You can walk in walk for miles and explore the canals and shops in architecture. When we come back to Amsterdam, we will definitely stay in this beautiful area to be right...More

Lovely quiet part of the city with loads of good architecture and views to match. Worth a visit. Unique collection of shops. Close to the centre and easy to get to. Loads of good photo opportunities.

Of course this is my misunderstanding as this was my first time back in Amsterdam in over 40 years. The area below Central Station to Dam Square was not the nicest-lots of alcoholics and others sleeping along the streets. Now the area below Central station...More

One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and
some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two
of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll
through this especially convivial warren of narrow
streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and
quality galleries. Historically a haven for the
working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is
better known as an enclave for artists and designers.

Sorry but I am not sure.. Maybe one of the romantic tours because there were smaller boats moored along the canals.

Yes it would! The neighborhood just next to Jordaan is called "the Nine Streets," and you can get a good idea of what's going on in the neighborhoods by taking a look at their webpages, which include a lot of articles... More
