Better I thought than the Rijksmuseum. Both his art and his life very clearly explained so that even we amateurs benefitted. Be sure to get the audio.

There was a special exhibit about Van Gogh's struggle with mental health issues that was amazingly interesting and contained wonderful commentary and historical documents. I would highly recommend the multi media tour which really added to the experience.

We enjoyed this visit very much. It is fascinating to see these works in person and fabulous to learn how Van Gogh studied to perfect his craft. If you only have one ear there is no entrance fee 😜.

You MUST stop here when in Amsterdam. No where else can you see such an extensive collection of Van Gogh. It can be a bit crowded and makes you feel rushed, so time accordingly. It is worth the hassle though!

It really depends on how much information you want to have about each painting. My advice is hear the intro and then move on. IMHO there's only one floor that'll take your time, but you shouldn't have to spend more than... More
