Interesting visit

Its a must to take the multi-media for the family. It is a nice way for children to get to know the pictures around.

The richness of Van Gogh's mature paintings is only made the more staggering by beginning with his muddy early works. Then you are ready to be stunned by what Vincent went on to achieve. Food for the soul and images that you never forget.

I'm not an Art guy nor do I get Art but I think I do now. After visiting I understand how looking at these pictures of feelings from the Artist you can understand the story. I recommend it.

Even if you are not a loving fan of art (painting in particular), you are definitely going to find your visit to Van Gogh's Museum captivating, enthralling and informative. Learning about a remarkable life of this extraordinary person, presented in a great detail at a permanent exhibition, will give you a better understanding of his works, and leave you hungry... More

Well organised, not too busy. A nice visit for a rainy day. It was great to see the actual paintings that you've seen in textbooks all your life. I have a greater appreciation for Van Gogh, I didn't realise the broad range of his talents.

There's lots on Van Gogh's life and development as an artist but 17 Euros is a bit steep for a museum with only about 200 exhibits.

I'd wanted to visit the museum for a long time and finally got the opportunity. After a busy night in town it was a lovely day to see some culture. Sun was shining, which was fortunate as there was a very long queue to get tickets. If it had been raining I don't think we'd have stayed in the queue.... More

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
