I was in Amsterdam in January 2020 and it was a cool 40 degrees (F) and sometimes lower. Despite the weather, I knew I wanted to get my bearings of the neighborhood and a chance to see the highlights since I was only there for 4 days. And being a foodie, a food tour was a necessity. This was a great way to get an experience of the foods in Amsterdam. I was the only client for the tour. Sean gave me the option to reschedule because some people do these tours to meet other travelers. But I said no way – I’m here to eat! And with Sean, the tour was like hanging out with a fellow foodie and friend for an afternoon. With no group to manage, we could linger at the food stops and converse with the restaurant workers and shop owners. A great way to experience the pancake shops, french fries stands – and herring! I would definitely recommend that you do this tour! My one regret – I wanted to revisit some of the stops (including the herring stand), but I got lost in the city trying to retrace the tour the following day. Use your Google maps and place a map location point at each stop. You’re going to wonder where that great pancake shop or herring stand is a day later and wished you could go back. Thanks Sean!

I ended up being the only person on my food tour but if anything that made it even better as my host Sean was great company and we were able to have some great conversations about food, Amsterdam, life, and it felt like an afternoon in the company of a friend. I enjoyed the ducking in and out of tiny traditional shops to find out about waffles, cheese, pancakes etc. It was also great to visit the food stands where locals were queuing up and to round things off with a visit to a beautiful old fashioned genevra tasting house. Food portions were just right and whilst there were plenty of food items I could have bought I never felt pressured to do so. All in all great company, great introductions to new foods (herring!), no pressure to eat things I didn’t like (liquorice!) and the enjoyment of visiting half a dozen places and having someone else order and pay for my food!

Thanks I had a great time as well. The small group atmosphere is always our thing, but the situation being as it is, a one person tour is so nice. Really felt comfortable. I am happy you liked our food and history and hoping you will come back and try our ethnic food tour on the east side of the city.

Despite less than stellar weather, our multigenerational family had a lovely day with Natalie and tour trainee Danni. Great mix of tasty bites that well represented Amsterdam. Fries and uniquely baked stroopwaffle stops were favorites- much better than the dozens of other shops catering to tourists. We were happy to support local small businesses and purchased some treats to carry home. Our experience was special since the group consisted of just us, but I’m sure Natalie’s tour with larger groups would be just as good!

Thank You Maria for commenting on this tour with Natalie and Daniela. Also for mentioning the local businesses we support. Even better you took an Urban Adventures tour where we pride ourselves in providing a link between visitors and our favorite vendors. So welcome to the Family. And thank you for your support in writing this review.

My girlfriend Erica and I had a small group tour with Dax recently and we had a great time! It ended up being just the three of us but that made it even better actually. We were able to just talk with Dax about Amsterdam and all kinds of things on a more personal level and learn a lot. He was very nice and made us feel very welcome, and encouraged us to try a traditional Dutch snack of raw herring, which was.. interesting to say the least. Suffice to say we had a good time and would recommend this tour to anyone looking for a good way to explore Amsterdam and spend some time!

Good to hear you both had such a good time with Dax. He is very approachable. Thank you for trying some herring out as well. It is always a challenge to get folks to try our particular Dutch treat. I will pass your praises onto Dax.
