I really loved the tours, I feel like I learnt a lot and they were super engaging! The focus on the local community takes you away from the more touristy side of the Amsterdam and puts you right into the heart of many vibrant communities. The focus on social change is amazing and Berber is such a fun, amazing tour guide. I also really enjoyed being able to talk to different people throughout the tour and to learn more about what they do.

Excellent! I did both the gentrification and the urban agriculture with BB. The places we visited are specially selected to make a great story and enjoy a chill bike ride. Tours have a focus on integrating tourists with the locals and sustainability. I recommend it 100% and I'm looking forward to join more tours from Tours that Matter.

The Counterculture & Gentrification Tour by Berber was amazing. We spend about 2,5 hours walking around the very intriguing old shipyard (NDSM) of Amsterdam, that is full of surprising constructions, beautiful streetart, and most of all: many many fascinating stories. Fortunately we had Berber around, who knew way more than she could tell, bringing in her own sharp insights about the area in an eloquent and entertaining way. She was even part of the squatting movement herself, and interviewed many locals along the sights. All in all a great tour in a less touristy part of Amsterdam. Couldn't recommend it more!

We went on the Tolerance & Migration tour and learned so much from Berber! Exploring the east side was a treat, and we thought the tour was perfectly paced and very engaging. It was a great way to get an overview of the history of Amsterdam and the country's responses to issues of racism and migration over the centuries. Plus, the tour ended at a market on the east side which we had so much fun exploring. There are lots of different topics of the tours from Tours that Matter, and we'd love to go on more next time we visit. Highly recommend exploring the city with Tours That Matter!

We toured a few spots in Amsterdam West. Our tour group had a lot of engaging conversations about Dutch politics, history and culture with BB. However, the two-way discussion was mostly dominated by those who already had prior knowledge of the places we visited, or had been staying in Amsterdam for a few weeks/months. So, those of us who were newer to the city did not have the location-specific context that the group discussions were referring to and felt a bit out-of-place. For example, while standing in front of De School, we were quite a few minutes into a seemingly unprompted conversation about the loss of nostalgic places in Amsterdam before someone (not BB) finally clarified the reason this discussion came about at all -- De School was permanently shutting down. Overall, although I enjoyed how the tour style was more back-and-forth and less touristy than usual tour companies, I wouldn't really recommend it to those who actually expect more information and context from their tour guides.

I joined two tours with Tours That Matter (Colonialism and Fair Trade & Urban Agriculture) and they were both great! Berber showed us around places in Amsterdam off the beaten tourist path that really gave us insight into Dutch history, society and values. Plus they were a lot of fun!

I decided to do a walking tour as I wanted to experience Amsterdam from a local's perspective. I was lucky to be devided in the group with the local tour guide. Initially I was not sure if it was a history tour or not, but in the end it seems to have been a tour about everything, which was nice. Berber made an effort to get to know and remember everyone in her group. You could see that she isn't doing these tours because she has to, but because she wants to. I would definitely recommend this tour on your first day as a solo traveller.

Yesterday I was on a free walking tour in Amsterdam. Our guide's name was Joy. And that is also the feeling that I had during our tour! Joy was amazing! She told us about the history of Netherlands as well as the history of Amsterdam. She explained everything about cannabis and prostitution. She gave us a lot really interesting facts. Probably you won't believe it, but it was funny, exciting and cool👍 She's made my day!!! Thank you so much, Joy🤗
