We rode a bike around the city and went into this modern building after trying to go into Nemo but it was closed. It caught us by surprise with it's good view of the city. It was very spacious and comfortable to stay for the evening. Has a cafe at the top which supplies a good variety of food. Best... More

If you are passing by, get the lift to the seventh floor and walk out onto the balcony; the view of Amsterdam City from the top is incredible.

A top notch library, newly built, very modern. Seven floors (or maybe more?). There is a great view facing the water but please be respectful, this is a library. Someone's usually playing the piano in the lobby on ground floor. You can hear the music on the other floors as well.

I went here because it was so highly recommended on Tripadvisor. I am originally from the Netherlands, so I was wondering what the fuss was all about. I must say I was pleasantly surprised going here. It is a really nice library, lot's of space and quiet places. But I mainly came here for the lunch menu and the terrace.... More

Having read previous Tripadvisor reviews of the new central library we decided to include it in our walking itinerary one day. It was well worth it and we particularly enjoyed the lunch on the top floor which has splendid views of Amsterdam and a wonderful range of fresh and cooked food served in an up market cafeteria style. Most of... More

I could have spend hours in this place. We loved the architecture, the view and the upper level restaurant. The food was great and the prices even better. I wish I had a library like this to visit.

The library is awesome. It's architecturally beautiful, and worth a look through. There is a great restaurant on the top floor with very fresh food, and an Italian restaurant by the entrance. There's an art exhibit space (free). This is where you can find same day, half price tickets for shows in town. I wish my town had a library... More

The uilding itself is something different. It's beautiful and modern with a nice restaurant. But the best feature is the great view at the top.

The "Openbaar bibliotheek van Amsterdam - OBA" is a great place to visit, not only to access an incredible number of books, music and other collections, but also to have a good simple meal looking to an amazing view of Amsterdam. The building has 7 floors, including a theater at the top and a nice simple restaurant "La Place" at... More

This is a incredible place, not only you can read a book, study, connect to internet or really rest, (they have nice couches to rest, in a quite place), but also you can go to the top floor, just buy a coffee and enjoy the views of the city from there. Its a great attraction for tourist but also pimps... More

Staying in Centrum

Neighborhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
