Beautiful Library

My kids are avid readers , so this was a wonderful stop for them. They demanded we go to every floor and just smell the books. My little Belles were in book heaven!

I didn't go to the library for books, but for dinner with a view. At the top of the building is a self service cafe with good food for good prices. The outdoor (covered) seating area offers a great view of the city, for free!

We were taken here by a friend who lives in the city - when she suggested we go to the library for a coffee, I was a bit 😳 but the coffee was good, the view fantastic & the food tasty & well priced. Would definitely go again.

Truly one of the most amazing libraries I have ever seen. Very new, highly modern, nicely thought out. Plenty of room. The building seems light and airy, and is not at all a musty-stuffy book-crammed old-style building. Coolest thing is a excellent cafeteria on the top floor that includes stunning views of Amsterdam. Go for the collection, stay for lunch.

Futuristic building, multi floors, including amazing children's section, top floor restaurant overlooking Amsterdam. Seven item continental breakfast for about three euros - but doesn't open until 10am. Entry free. Minutes from centre along canal path but watch out for cyclists and scooters - they demand priority and if you want to be sure of getting hit try zebra crossing and... More

We were told to try here for a reasonable place to eat.......the restaurant is on the top floor and yes the food is good and good for a budget but wow the views over the city were great from the terrace outside........worth a visit for the views alone

This library is awesome and made me envious that I couldn't be a student here just to come study in this library. It just inspired me to want to read. It's modern, FULL of books, has a lot of floors and has a nice view of the city from up above. There's even a nice little cafe on the top... More

Staying in Centrum

Neighborhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
