Absolutely delicious dinner advertised as 3 courses, but really more like 5. Skipper was competent and entertaining ... he reminded us of actor Leslie Nielsen. Duration of cruise was nearly 3 hours and took us to some of the less-frequently visited canals in Amsterdam. After you order your starter, entree, and dessert, the food is cooked and plated at an onshore kitchen that I'd rate as 4 or 5 stars. To hear the skipper's commentary, you should sit at one of the 3 tables in the forward section; to have a more private area, go aft. While the price is fairly high, I'd still say it was worth it! In cold weather, the boat is fully enclosed and heated.

I had been looking for something special to celebrate my husband's birthday and our anniversary while we visited Amsterdam and came across this dinner cruise. It was wonderful! If you're thinking about it, book it now.

We sat at one of the three small tables at the front section of the boat (there were five tables at the rear) and enjoyed both some private conversation time as well as interesting commentary here and there from the captain. The boat and service are managed by the captain and one extremely capable assistant and they work in tandem to provide a lovely cruise and delicious dinner throughout the 3+ hours you spend with them.

You are greeting with a glass of champagne, and there is a fully stocked bar (additional cost). The menu offered choice of three of each course and was picked up and served enroute from one of the restaurants on the canal. The way this two- person crew managed 18 (I think?) meals of several courses was amazing. The food was excellent - we both enjoyed our selections.

This was October, so the weather was too chilly to have the boat open, but we thoroughly enjoyed being on the canals and viewing the outside through windows. The temp was comfortable inside. The views would probably be lovely in warmer weather.

There is a very nice toilet/bathroom on board. It's in a small space, but surprisingly well-appointed.

This was a perfect way for us to celebrate two special occasions during our Amsterdam stay!

We have just returned from Amsterdam and really enjoyed our cruise with Jewel. I can only repeat what has been said many times by other reviewers. A cruise on the canals is a 'must' and nothing can compare to being aboard this beautiful boat.

The crew (Captain Theo) and his assistant (Stuart) made us extremely welcome, even from the quayside! The food is organised in advance, collected with precision from restaurants 'en-route' and served seamlessly aboard. It is not intended to be a cheap boat trip, but an overall experience of the canals, boat, food and service. This makes for an unforgettable experience.

Can I just add, that our original trip was booked over 3 years ago and for (what became) the COVID affected spring of 2020. Jewel have been utterly brilliant in holding open the booking until normal times resumed - we cannot thank or recommend them enough. Thank you!

While the food and service was very good (much better than I have ever had on any kind of tour) and the captain and server were very pleasant, we were quite disappointed that virtually NO information about Amsterdam was provided to us during the nearly 3 hour cruise. From time to time, the server said something like, “Oh, that building there is the Royal Theater,” and “My grandmother loved that building,” but there was no effort to tell us anything about the neighborhoods, history, or anything about Amsterdam. Instead, my husband and I sat on the boat, eating a nice dinner, and looking at the buildings and the street life of Amsterdam, and wondering what it was that we were seeing. While it was definitely a pleasant experience, you can have a nice dinner anywhere, and I expected much more of a tour from this experience.

In terms of how it works, the boat starts out from Singhel at 7:30, then sails around for 45 minutes up and down canals. Orders are taken (choice between several appetizers, entrees, desserts). It then picks up the appetizers from a restaurant, and sails around for 45 more minutes (up and down many of the same canals), and gets back to the same restaurant to pick up entrees and desserts. Then you sail around for a while longer, and return back to Singhel at 10:15 or so. Wine was reasonably priced.

If this cruise had offered the information that I expected, I would definitely give it five stars. The food/service was great, but just disappointed that there is not more of a tour.

+ Lovely views

- Different menu to the one that was on the website.
- Gave me the wrong meal and no option of going back to get the right one.

We paid £130 pp for this cruise to not even get the correct meal is a massive disappointment. To make it worse, the waitress failed on a simple checkbox exercise when I selected my food. Would recommend having a nice meal and having a cruise separately.

Absolutely wonderful experience, from the moment you board till the moment you leave you receive 5 star treatment. The boat has been painstakingly restored and is spotlessly clean and so comfortable. The duo looking after us worked so hard keeping all the guests happy and it made for a very pleasant evening.
Our journey started with a glass of cava some olives and snacks we were then shown the menu and made our selection, after about 20 minutes cruising we stopped and our starters arrived then off we sailed again. Same again for the main and desert, the food was freshly prepared, piping hot and to a very high standard. We sailed through the canals and on to the Amstel river while enjoying our meal and soaking up the atmosphere.
A truly wonderful experience we will treasure

This is a romantic and memorable way to cruise the canals of Amsterdam. The boat is delightful. We had a table for four that was beautifully set in the aft of the boat in an area that was semi-private. The captain and server were warm and inviting. After a welcome glass of champagne, we ordered dinner, which is sumptuous and prepared by a restaurant. The boat stops to pick up each course along the way. It was light when the cruise started at 7:30 pm and you could see the sights around the canal, but the cruise continues in the dark with the bridges all lit up. It was a most delightful evening.

This was easily the highlight of our 6 day visit to Amsterdam.

A small, intimate, 150 year old boat (20 people capacity). The boat itself is in excellent condition. All tables have white linen table cloths. There is clean well maintained washroom onboard.

You are greeted by the very friendly captain and immediately served a glass of champagne and a small tray of appetizers (peanuts, salami balls and olives).

The boat itself does not have a kitchen. What they do is take your order, call it in to Van de Kaart caterers and then cruise around the canals periodically pulling over to pick up the food which is hot and very well presented.

All the dishes and appetizers we selected were excellent. Nothing disappointed.

The wine selection, while limited, has something for everyone in various price ranges. We had the Spanish rioja from Remelluri which was quite nice.

I would recommend this experience and would do it again the next time I am in Amsterdam.

Amsterdam at its best. Amazing food, service and sights. Had a vegetarian and a teenager with me and both left very happy. 1 skipper and 1 crew manage the beautiful boat for three hours and couldn’t fault the experience.

We really enjoyed this canal dinner cruise. The boat itself is a jewel – very intimate, comfortable and beautifully appointed. We arrived early and had the pick of the tables – we picked the forward table, left side so that we could visit with the Captain during our 3 hour tour. Dereck, the Captain and Nora our service attendant could not have been more helpful. It was a fast three hours. The food was very good with small added courses and we could not have been more pleased with the service.
We particularly appreciated the dialogue with the Captain throughout the trip. It made our experience all the more enjoyable. We highly recommend this wonderful night cruise through the Amsterdam canals. It was well worth the cost and an experience we do again during our next visit to Amsterdam.
