Best part of my visit to Amsterdam was the evening boat tour amongst the canals and light festival that was on show. This was a magical experience, and one that if you are lucky enough to catch before it ends then you must do it.

We went on the Amsterdam Light Festival Cruise and booked extra for the Fast Track service and chose Canal as they were one of the official partners for the event. Having arrived at the pier there are no clear instructions that you have to go to the desk and get a slip of paper to hand to the captain of... More

This was our highlight of our NYE trip to Amsterdam - a 75 min tour of the canals with the added bonus of seeing the Amsterdam Light Festival. Thoroughly enjoyable and very interesting - thank you to Michael who was our navigator and tour guide

Came here for a 4 course dinner and boat trip with my family. FINDING IT Near the train station, there are LOADS of different companies offering boat trips so we actually found it really difficult to find this place. I think probably because they've called themselves the Canal Company so it's a very generic name and it's not very clear.... More

We went on the Water Colors trip to see the Light Festival exhibits. There was a very long queue, but the tour was very good and lasted about an hour. Audio commentary provided and it was warm with comfy seats on the boat.

We did the Light Festival tour. It is worth seeing the exhibits however I enjoyed it walking around the canal much more than taking the boat trip. It's not a bad option if you want to see the canal quickly. We bought the premium tour and pay online. The tickets said pay online to avoid waiting in line but you... More

We booked a 48 hour pass and the canal bus was a great way to get from the station to our hotel. Thereafter we used it as a hop on hop off bus and found it to be reliable and a bit more fun than the trams

My partner and i really wanted to do an open boat tour, we had heard these we better if you can brace the cold. The driver (captain i guess) was great, was able to give info behind each of the lights we saw and Amsterdam. Blankets were provided as well as hot chocolate and wine. There are other open boat... Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
