I like how you can hop on and off the boat throughout the day so you can explore, but comparing it to taking the tram to/from places, I prefer the tram. You can see the canals wherever you go so unless you sit on the boat for an extended period of time, I don't think it's the best method to... More

We didn't really know what to expect for the pizza cruise but are so glad we went. We chose to go for our first night (and first visit) in Amsterdam. You hand your preorder form for pizza and dessert to one of the friendly wait staff. Unlimited drinks (beers, wines and soft drinks) are then served as you start your... More

Nice meal. The cauliflower soup was divine. We were on a tour and the dinner atmosphere provided a nice way to meet the others. The tour guide was knowledgeable.

This was our favourite activity of the trip! Prior to boarding you tell the staff what pizza and dessert you want, then all pile in. As the boat leaves the staff introduce themselves, describe the tour then get to serving everyone drinks. It's 45 minutes cruising along the canals and river Amster before the pizza arrives, then cruising back for... More

We hired pedalos (water bikes) for an hour which was a lot of fun but surprisingly stressful! Whilst navigating the canals wasn't hard using the map provided, the waterways are very busy and every boat it bigger than you! Apart from the crazy intersections, this was a relatively cheap (€8 pp) and fun activity.

This was our 27th visit to Amsterdam and although we have done several canal boat cruises over the varying trips (cheese and wine, dinner cruise, sight seeing with commentary), we had not done one on the smaller boats that go on the canals other than the main ones, so decided we would see how we fared, bearing in mind my... Very good way to get an overview of the city. Price seemed reasonable in comparison and the queues seemed less in comparison. Friendly staff.

Great sightseeing from boat and channels. You can download app before you jump on the boat and you'll get chosen language story for the boat trip. It's nice to see and get experience from the channel level. Price matching the value you'll get. In combination with nice weather, if you're lucky, stacked in our minds as a perfect experience in... There are so many canal boats and companies offering tours it is sometimes just a shot in the dark. This one was ok, the captain very friendly but boats bit tired looking and not as modern as some others we later came across. The times are quite frequent and the jump on and off facility lends itself to Amsterdam.

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
