We stayed near the Anne Frank museum and so wanted to go on a cruise starting there rather than from the centre of town. We bought the tickets online and we went past a sign which indicated it was a canal bus stop but on a closer look it said the stop was temporarily out of service. It did not... More

With two children (11 yrs + 5 yrs), we had so much fun exploring the city via a canal bike as opposed to walking around. The kids were not into shopping and we (parents) found it too much to deak with the traffic, so the canal bike was a great solution. Best photos of the city were taken from the... More

I have lived in Amsterdam for 43 years and along the IJ for 7, but I never had visited the harbor area that is so close by. This tour opened my eyes to the activity there as well as providing much information about other developments along the IJ both new and old.

Very incompetent organization with very little understanding of customer care. Booked a ticket via their website, but the time change didn't go trough. I called in the morning to correct the time, which the lady said she did, but ultimately we had to wait for over an hour due to the incompetence and poor communication between employees. They were willing... More

This particular company was recommended by our family who live in Amsterdam. Easy (and cheaper) to book on-line in advance if you have the time. The moorings are well located and the timetable is accurate. We joined a boat intending to get off part-way round but found it so relaxing (it was a Wednesday, the sun was shining and the... More

We participated in the one hour canal cruise and a 1 hour canal bike rental from this company. We felt the canal cruise was as advertised and gave us a great overview of the organization of the canals in the city center. The real fun was renting a canal bike (a 4 person boat propelled by two people pedaling). This... More

We boarded 3 boats near the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam for a special lunch tour of the Amsterdam Canals. What a great way to see the city all the while having a very fine lunch of avocado salad, chicken fillet and a huge piece of Dutch Apple Pie for dessert all coupled with wine and other beverages of your choice. The... More

We were welcomed onto a beautiful canal boat and seated with another couple from Germany. The waitress welcomed us with a glass or two of prosecco which got the conversation flowing( mostly about brexit!). The first course was a delicious blend of baby potatoes, salad and dressing served with free flowing wine of choice. Main course was equally beautifully presented... More

Nowhere on the literature for this boat dose it say no children, or children must be quiet! On boarding the boat my partner & I sat near two families, both of which had young children. They weren't being rude or unpleasant in anyway & were just being small children. The Captain turned round & shouted in a very aggressive manor... More

Dear Elli, Thank you for taking the time to review the cruise you took. From your review it is clear that our captain was not operating at the high service level we normally pursue during your trip. Children are welcome on our boats by all means as the Canal Bus is a great activity for families with kids. Normally the... More

Great way to see the city and have dinner. Didn't have a high chair for our toddler, but there was room on the bench seats so it was fine. Pizza was pretty good given it was on a boat. Beer and wine aren't great, but you can have as much as you want. Highly recommend!

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
