We chose to do the 75 minute tour in a small boat with a personal commentary - in English. It was a good choice. Menne the guide and pilot was excellent - really informative, friendly and sometimes very funny and told us lots of quirky details that we hadn't seen in any guidebooks or online guides. We also got to... More

We booked a two day hop on/off in advance because the two day price was only 3e more than a one day ticket. Redeeming and boarding were easy and the whole experience was great. It was a great way to tour the city and get from one place to another without having to book separate boat rides. Would definitely do... More

Okay so I want to be clear that this review is just for the paddleboating. And that most of my issue with it is probably because I had a different image of what paddleboating in the canals would be.I thought it would be us just gingerly paddling watching the world go by. It's not. The canals have a current, the... More

Hey Nicole, Thanks for taking the time to review your experience with us. We totally agree that taking a trip by pedal boat counts for a workout! Luckily you can take this tour at your own pace. If you're really not in the mood for any physical exercise, we recommend going on the boats with 3 or 4 people. Because... More

If you don't want to hazard in a bit crazy Amsterdam traffic on bike, it´s the nice way how to travel around the city centre without rush, visit all the main sightseengs and enjoy the city on boat.

A relaxing hour long cruise with multi-lingual commentary and a cheery captain. Not the cheapest of options (around £34 for a family of four) but worth it for our first trip to Amsterdam.

Decided to hire a couple of peddle boats for 6, so 2 boats, 3 in each. When we got to the dock, someone rode off in one of the last boats so we had to wait for another. Not too inconvenient but a bit poor on their part. Someone comes back so we take their boat and the one sitting... More

Hi Daniel, Thanks for taking the time to review your trip on the Canal Bike. Good to hear that you enjoyed the ride but unfortunately it sounds like it wasn't a very smooth experience for you overall. I would like to look into this issue some more. Can you please email me the date & time as well as the... More

the Netherlands, the country of bikes, so what better way to explore Amsterdam than by cycling through the canals? This is a great alternative to the crowded touristy tour boats. On the water bikes you can take in the surroundings at your leisure whilst excercising in a fun way. You need'nt worry about getting lost, you receive a map when... More

We had seen people pedaling around the canals on our strolls around Amsterdam. It looked like they were having fun, and seemed like it would be a novel way to explore Amsterdam from water level. Yes, and No. The canal boats are easy enough to operate - you sit in them and pedal. From there on it's a little more... More

We rented the canal bike for one hour, they have a good promo of 4 x 3 so it was perfect for the four of us. It was a nice summer evening so the weather was lovely and quite enjoyable! such a nice exercise and way to pass the evening !!

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
