About
We are going to set sail in Old Amsterdam on our self made luxurious electric boat! We will cruise into the deepest and most stunning canals where all the big boats aren't able to come. We will show and talk about Old Amsterdam, it's History and it's Dutch culture while you can relax on our lounge boat. No automated system telling you the numbers, but real genuine stories of pure history by real Dutchies. It is an unforgettable tour with the humor and the view our dutch perspective. We will cruise down the famous Prinsengracht towards the most romantic Skinny bridge, the Amstel river, the famous Red Light District, the impressive Golden Bend, the Jordaan and its smallest canals and so many more.

What a wonderful night! This is a long overdue shout out to Skipper Paul and hosts Fran & Saar! They made a night tour of the Festival of Lights incredible - mid December - served wine, made sure everyone was part of the story telling of the night - extremely fun and enjoyable! Highly recommend Flying Dutch Boats !

My husband and I visited Amsterdam & enjoyed a wonderful canal ride with this company. On board you could have a nice chilled drink...alcohol or a soft drink if you prefer. The trip was informative & funny as the two crew who took us made it so. They were young but had knowledge & answered any questions asked. We boarded the boat outside the Anne Frank house...it was a very pleasant hour & can highly recommend this company. I think the names of the crew were mayonne & lodewijk....give them an hour of your time, you won't be disappointed! 😊

Why choose one of the generic company run canal boat trips when you could choose this one!! Super chilled out.
I hopped on board this open top canal boat with my friends recently and it was so much fun! It is open top so choose a day with no rain forecast and don't worry too much about it being cold as there are plenty of pillows, rugs and fuzzy blankets to keep you warm. Also, a well stocked bar!
If you are torn between choosing a boat trip in Amsterdam I highly recommend this one, the team are super friendly and hand crafted the boat themselves! They are local to Amsterdam and answered all our weird and wonderful questions. We floated around for an hour and it cost 15 euro. Bargain.

Horrible experience! It’s not our first Amsterdam visit or boat ride, we know what we’re talking about. We pre-booked a ticket and, arriving on time, were happy to meet huge, unstructured, unmanaged crowd. Staff has repeated “you see there’re a lot of other people who also booked”, no excuses. There was absolutely no logic in who’s getting first in the boat, many people who had no pre-booking. We didn’t manage to get on the boat hat departed on the booked time, but we were promised to start 10 later and get on the boat first. None of that happened. We started 30 min later and were not there first to chose our place on the overcrowded boat where the only target was to earn more money through up-selling through their bar. There was possibility to make it better by good ride but it was 100% percent tourist trap. First, there was little mid-school level info given without micro, 95% percent silence. Second, the route was chose for the team to be able to top-up their beer stock and to get rid of litter, not to show Amsterdam. Summary - never again.

Dear Philippe and Katherine, Thank you again for taking the time to leave a review and also to discuss your experience with Flying Dutch Boats / Flagship Amsterdam while here in Amsterdam. We are still trying to fully process the failure you experienced late Saturday afternoon. You can imagine what a shock your comments were to us. We work hard at being the very best tour company that the city has to offer. Flying Dutch Boats pride ourselves on not being a tourist trap, and I am so sorry that we disappointed you and your friends on that day. As discussed briefly over the phone with Philippe, we were overwhelmed with third party sales (Groupon and Social Deal), and we could just not keep up. This lead to a breakdown in operations that peaked at the time you were scheduled to cruise. We realize that the kind of customer service and guest experience that Flying Dutch Boats prides itself on was unfortunately not offered. Flying Dutch Boats (which is a partner in Flagship Amsterdam shared tours) markets itself, as well as prides itself on being a small, intimate, and personal tour company. On Saturday afternoon, this was not the case and we are both saddened and embarrassed to have a been a party to the kind of service that you experienced. Flying Dutch Boats is a young and growing company. The City of Amsterdam has only just, in the past few months, permitted small boat tours here in the city. We are competing with the traditional large boat tours, but we feel that what we offer to visitors is a much more intimate and individualized experience. Flying Dutch Boats’ business plan revolves around a charming small boat experience, with small groups, available drinks (not as an up-sell, but as an enjoyable option), and a private feeling tour where we can share history, fun facts, local hot spots, answer guest’s inquiries, and show our love for the City of Amsterdam. We have learned a lot from Saturday, and from a review like yours. We immediately suspended the Groupon and Social Deal offers through third parties, and are re-structuring all guest management procedures with Flagship Amsterdam in front of the Anne Frank House and across the board. We as an individual company will also be looking at the larger co-operation we have with Flagship in order to better reflect the standards we have set at Flying Dutch Boats. We haven’t the marketing budget of the big boat tour companies, but we do have you, our guests, and their reviews. Trip Advisor and social media are currently our only marketing tools. I do understand that our company did not meet your expectations, nor ours, and we are moving quickly to correct those missteps. You mentioned that you had seen our other reviews, and we really hope that those reviews support who our company is and continues to work to be. Your experience fell way below our company standards, and we will not let that happen again. We are working hard, learning, and growing every day. We appreciate every review and every bit of feedback that we receive. We are taking action, and will be better for it. We would love for you to join us on Flying Dutch Boats on your next trip to our beautiful city. Please let us know when you plan to visit, and we will make the arrangements. We hope to show you that we are the company you hoped we’d be. We look forward to having you on board!

We really had a good time on the boat. The tour leader (think her name was Lo) was great. But it was super anoying when the driver Charlie had to speak to other people very loudly everytime she spoke, it interrupted her. He also shouted and said hello to other people on other boats always when she was explaining or telling us something about the city. We found it very disrespectfull and it made our expierience not so nice. We could not always hear what she was saying because of his loud interruptions. They should really give their male employers a gender equality course.

First of all, it was almost impossible to find this boat tour company. We walked up and down the street adjacent to the Anne Frank house, looking for something with Flying Dutch Boats written on a sign or boat. We finally asked some young men with red jackets that said "Join us on our canal tour." Nothing about Flying Dutch. He said "this is the tour," so we joined.
Maybe because we had high expectations based on the great trip reports, but we were disappointed. The canals are lovely, but much of the tour's narration consisted of things we had already heard on a walking tour. Also, it was very difficult to hear the guide, as there was no amplification of his voice. We didn't learn about any great restaurants or shopping spots as advertised. The captain and mate seemed very nice and capable, but we felt there was so much more we could have learned.
I have no idea how other tours are on the canals, so we had nothing to compare this to. I don't think this is the worst of the bunch by any means, but we would recommend they get better signage, amplify the narration and perhaps increase the local information a bit.

Ahoy, Deb! Thank you so much for taking the time to tell us about your experience. We are a young and eager company, and we take all of our guest’s feedback to heart. We are so sorry that you had a hard time locating us in front of the Anne Frank House. We are sadly not allowed to use any advertising or signage on the street or on our boats due to very strict city regulations regarding solicitation of business. We do understand that it can make it a bit tough to spot us, but we are happy that you did find us! We are also sorry to hear that the canal tour did not meet your expectations. We definitely try, to the best of our ability, to share not only historic information about our beautiful city, but to also share information that meets the interests of the guests on board each cruise. It looks as if we missed the mark on your tour having not provided you with more information about local restaurants & entertainment spots. We will continue to update and make additions to our website to include more recommendations of city hotspots, hidden local joints, and cultural events, so that even if we do not get to them during our time together on the water, we will be able to provide information for all of our guests at their leisure. We do agree that struggling to hear the information being shared on board can really make or break your experience. Thank you for your feedback. We highly value each guest's experience, and we are always looking for ways to improve as we continue to grow. We hope that you enjoyed your stay in Amsterdam! Thank you for spending an hour on the canals with us, and we'd love to see you on board next time you come to visit!

We took the Dutch flyer boat last night along the canals to view the festive light show .. the boat was very old and traditional but it was snug and the crew gave us a good welcome .. Lisa (that’s the English version of her name) was our guide .. she was friendly and made sure we were looked after .. along with the free unlimited beers wine and soft drinks ensured we had a jolly time too .. Although I wasn’t blown away by the works of art it was Definitely worth the money we paid for the 75 mins trip

A wonderful way to spend just over an hour touring the canals and seeing the sights of Amsterdam. A friendly welcome from our skipper Sky who led us on our history lesson. Fascinating and educational all in one go. Well worth the money.
