Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.

We booked this for my sister's birthday and it did not disappoint! It was our first time with VR and it was a mindblowing experience. The staff were fantastic - our 'guide' Lorenzo was super patient, informative and clearly enjoys his job. He made it such a fun experience. Would highly recommend, even if you're not a gamer - it's such a cool experience!

As a men's outing, we opted for VR gaming. That suits us perfectly, we are all gamers. We opted for VR Black Ops and Lasergame. At Black Ops we were amazed. What an experience..!!! Our entire bodies were scanned and we could see ourselves and friends in the game as we had to take out the enemy while playing a mission. Really cool!
In Lasergame you fight against each other free-for-all. Also very nice!
Since we had a very large group, we couldn't all do it at once. Fortunately there was plenty of chilled drinks and air hockey/football tables.
Successful afternoon!

Absolutely loved this! As VR newbies this was so much fun. The guys were really helpful & guided you though the whole process. Did this with our two kids 12/15. Only wished we’d booked the Gold session!

At VR GameHouse, you can play a variety of VR games and experiences using high-end HTC Vive headsets. There is a large selection of games to choose from, including racing games with steering wheel and pedals, and it's possible to try multiple different games within a single session.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, first advising me on which games to try, then guiding me throughout the games and experience such that I never got lost or stuck in a game. This will be especially useful for those experiencing VR for the first time.

During my 20 minute session, I played a few games and experiences, the most fun of which was the first-person-shooter Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope. The others were shorter experiences, including a bow-and-arrow-based online tower-defense game, but nevertheless also quite interesting.

Regarding the experience itself, the PC-based HTC Vive hardware certainly surpasses the PlayStation VR I play at home in terms of tracking accuracy and graphical fidelity, which made it interesting to try despite my extensive prior VR experience. The only minor issue I had was the audio; external speakers were used instead of headphones, and while this makes it easier to hear the staff, it also means I didn't experience full 3D binaural audio that I normally expect from VR.

Those with previous VR experience may want to consider visiting De VR Arcade instead, which offers a unique multi-player free-roaming VR game that goes far beyond anything you can experience in a home setting.

If you happen to own a Vive or know someone that does, there is literally no reason whatsoever to visit VR GameHouse, outside of perhaps the racing games. Even the difference from my PlayStation VR, although noticeable, didn't really blow me away.

For those without VR experience, I still find it difficult to recommend VR GameHouse while De VR Arcade exists. While VR GameHouse is the cheapest way to experience VR in Amsterdam, the value proposition still leans strongly in favour of De VR Arcade, thanks to the longer session and their amazing free-roam experience. For a direct comparison:

- VR GameHouse: €19.00 for 20 minutes normal VR games.
- De VR Arcade: €32.50 for 30 minutes free roam VR game plus ~15 minutes normal VR games

Overall, I enjoyed my visit to VR GameHouse, but given the high cost plus the lack of something more unique for those already experienced with VR, I don't really have any reason to go back or recommend it to others as long as De VR Arcade is an option.

Hi Martin, Yes I remember you, we chatted quite a bit after your short session. Thank you for your feedback. However, I would have respectfully disagree on quite a few points you mentioned. We always adjust to the preference and experience level of the client. So when you first came in we asked if you had any experience with VR. You only mentioned that you tried some on the playstation. We have a large selection (30-40) of vr games and vr experiences and we update regularly. So have to firmly disagree when you say "lack of unique experiences" when you only tried a few in your short session. We recommended the vr games and vr experiences based on your level, preference and duration of your session. As we want our clients to get the most out of their session. So if a client has a short session of 20 min and it is their first time in Virtual Reality, we will recommend games that isn't too complex with too many difficult controls. As it can be quite intense just simply being in Virtual Reality. The client always gets a complimentary (free) introduction and get two amazing experiences from that before their session starts. We fully guide you if it is your first time (which we assumed it was from what you told us) and the game objective and controls gets explained by our staff before the game starts. During the game tips and tricks are given (when needed) to help you get the most out of your vr-experience. During the session our staff checks in on you if are enjoying your game and or if you would like to switch. In both games it seemed you were having a great time and you confirmed this during your session and after your session and thanked us. We chatted for quite some time and neither of the issues were mentioned. So I am not sure how you would like us to improve your session if you don't let your preference be known. Also we have much more advance games/experiences which you might have enjoyed. The same with the audio you mentioned in your review, as you already know the vr-headsets (htc vive) we use is equipped with the deluxe audio headphones, one click and you have your headphones on (as also mentioned in the introduction) ... or you could have simply asked one of our staff to suit your preference. As most newcomers prefer the speakers instead of the headphones so they are not completely cut off from the real world. Pricing We have 3 packages: 20min + 5min introduction = 19 euro 50min + 5min intro = 39 euro 90 min + 5 min intro = 59 euro Making us the most affordable virtual reality experience center in the Netherlands offering Virtual Reality at the highest level in the heart of Amsterdam. As we believe we should make it affordable and available for everyone to experience. Lastly, I find it a quite sad to shamelessly advertise another company on my tripadvisor page and leaving lot of information out. The other company you mentioned is NOT in the center of Amsterdam, does NOT offer short packages, and is much more expensive (+160 euro) for a session which you can share up to 5 persons. You have to book in advance. Furthermore, the graphics is not on par with the content we provide. The 1 (zombie)game they offer is a couple years old which they developed themselves, we only use the latest games and experiences from renowned vr-developers and update them frequently. I dislike mentioning these details of the other company but feel the need to set the record straight as from your review it almost sounds like you are working for them. So why VR Gamehouse Amsterdam? 1. Best price / Best Quality 2. Latest and high end equipment (best out on the market) 3. Location = in the heart of Amsterdam (100m from Damsquare, 5min from Central Station) 4. Amazing service (see our reviews) 5. Offering short packages starting from 20min 6. Simply Walk-in or Book online 7. Only VR company in the heart of Amsterdam 8. Single or Multiplayer up to 4 people at the same time in the same world 9. Large variety of VR Games and VR Experiences (update frequently) 10. For all ages, first-timers / non gamers / diehard gamers. 11. Two beautiful full on vr racing machines with pedals, gear shifters / H shifter and high end steering wheel.

Since this is the first VR Gamehouse in The Netherlands and me and my boyfriend had never tried this before, we went and visited the VR Gamehouse which was close and easy to walk from Amsterdam Central. And let me tell you, this was my most fun and amazing game experience ever. You don't have to be a game geek to love this! I recommend this to everyone. You can play with your friends or alone. Watching your friends play the VR is pretty fun too! Will definitely go back with friends. Fun for birthday party's as well.

We were looking for a fun activity to have a teambuilding experience with our team.
we had so much fun... staff was really friendly and the team really enjoyed the VR experience. there is one main activity and several smaller games. it's really active, prepare to work up a sweat!
Because we were with 25 people we we send to the location outside of the city, in Amsterdam west. This is a long way out of the city, wasn't a problem for us as we had a party bus driving us around, but good to know.

One of MANY dreams came true today. In Amsterdam we found this VR-gamespot. After a short intro (with a small drop from a skyscraber) I was ready to smash aliens and monsters.. Pretty awesome! Nice selection of weapons- from handguns to “Tommy-Guns”, MINI-Guns and rocketlaunchers!! 😍😍😍

Games were pretty fun. Gave them an email for sending pics, they abused that info to bug me for other things.
