Neighborhood: Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.

The private Amsterdam art society is open for non members from 12 to 17.00 Hours. The club is vested in one of those grand monumental buildings on the Rokin. The interior is beautiful with its Berlage furniture and the art exposition on the walls. You can enjoy the serenity ( no music) in the middle of Amsterdam, an oasis of peace. Food is good for most reasonable prices

We had a delicious lunch at a old and authentic place at the Rokin, near the subway station and shopping area.
The Salmon salad and the typical Dutch croquettes were great. Fast and friendly service. There are some spots at the outsider terras where you can watch the street life of Amsterdam.
A must-see when you are in the Kalverstreet area.

We visited this building during the "Open Monument Day". We got a guided tour. It's used to be closed for the public. This is a Dutch artist's society club, founded in 1839. The Society has played a big role in the Netherlands art scene, especially the Amsterdam art schools. From outside you would not see how beautiful inside is. A lot of "wood craft", such as the ceiling, the stairway, the balustrade and many others. The furniture or interior are all the original from the artist self. It's recommended for one who likes art. There is also a cafe inside. It worths visit.

Longest wait of my life for ok food. Not only that, the service was extremely slow. Would not recommend to anybody wanting to eat.
