Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.

Kaashuis Tromp is a nice cheese shop along Elandsgracht in the Jordaan District. Opening hours are 8am to 7 or 8pm daily. This is a nice place to see, small and buy Dutch and other cheeses that you can enjoy while in Amsterdam or to take home with you afterwards. Staff member was happy to describe and talk about several of the cheeses we had asked about.
During our visit, we purchased an aged Gouda cheese and an Italian cheese with truffle which were vacuum sealed after purchase so that we could take home with us. We enjoyed both cheeses back in Hong Kong over the next month and very much enjoyed them. Taste and strong aroma were both maintained well after travel and sitting in our fridge for a few weeks.
Overall, very happy with the cheese purchases at Kaashuis Tromp Elandsgracht. We'll make a stop here again during our next visit to Amsterdam.

I recommend the sliced chicken sandwich on baguette! You can try some cheese samples while you wait. This is not the main store which is on Utrechtestraat (which was recommended by the young lady at the shop). It does offer shrink wrapped cheese for travel too. While not really a tourist stop English is spoken. We went back the next day but warning NO sandwiches after five. OK we bought the cheese and bread for DIY.

We stopped here to grab some cheese, charcuterie, bread, and wine before jumping on a canal tour and they had everything we needed! The staff helped us pick out some great Dutch cheeses and wine to pair with it. Everything was delicious!

I’m not sure about prices, but they have a huge variety of cheese and will vacuum pack for travel home. Sandwiches are cheap and amazing! Get one for lunch!

Often I just buy cheese for home. It’s good quality but expensive. This time I wanted to have a sandwich to go. The menu is big. They make the sandwich in front of you. So I had a warm signature Tromp sandwich. That was so good!

Came to this shop to purchase local cheese on the advice of Dutch friends and what a delight it was!
On entering the shop, staff were so friendly and helpful. Allowed to try all different kinds of cheese before picking out choices.
The staff kindly vacuum packed them for us for our flight back to the UK.
The cheese itself was absolutely delicious and we have been back again!!
Best thing is, you can order online from them and they will shop out to your address!! 👍

No doubt that TROMP is a very good "specialized" cheese shop. It has many kind of cheese. As the location is in a part of tourist area, a lot of tourists came a long to taste cheese. It offers you to pack the cheese in vacum so that you can bring it back to your country.

This is one of the cheese-specializing tourist shops in Amsterdam. It seems very professional, they have a lot of varieties and can pack cheese in vacuum for you to take home and still keep the cheese fresh for a long time. Still, most of the cheeses you could find in the local supermarket for much less, but that's true for all similar cheese shops

My friend and I spent 45 minutes in this place trying all the cheeses. The guy who was helping us didn't seem at all inconvenienced by it and kept recommending new stuff. Ended up walking out with a bunch of cheese at a really good price.
