Hello! My name is Alexander and I live in Amsterdam. As an archeologist, I'm passionate about history and I've been a lifelong student of Amsterdam's rich and colourful past. I offer you a 2.5 hour walking tour past the most important Golden Age sites of the historical citycenter. The tour can be given in English or Dutch, in small groups.

We received a tip to book a tour with Alex while we where in Amsterdam. After walking around in this great city for a few days we thought we had a good understanding of Amsterdam until we went on the tour with Alex.
He helped us understand why Amsterdam has grown to be on of the most tolerant and entrepreneurial cities of the world. It was great to see how Amsterdam was build up from a small village to what it is now!
I can highly recommend this tour if you want to have a more in depth explanation from a tour guide that is passionate to share his knowledge!

Alex is a very enthousiastic and original guide, who seems to know everything there is to know about the history of the city. Due to his broad knowlegde he can also enlarge on broader developments in European history. You'll be amazed at his endless factual knowledge and won't be bored!

On a beautiful day in May 2017, Alex took a small group my of colleagues and business associates and me, on a historical tour through the medieval part of Amsterdam. Alex showed us places and talked about historically significant events even the Amsterdammers amongst us had never heard of.
It was great; we did not feel lectured, he could answer most of our sometimes awkward questions and stayed for a few beers in the sun afterwards. It was great to meet you Alex! Thanks again!

We were with a small group, mostly local people, and two international friends. The tour was very interesting and it felt like it was really personalised to our group. No standard talk of the standard tourist attractions. We had some drinks half way and the whole vibe was very easy going. Places I cycled by many times without realising the history. I'm going to pay a bit more attention to this great city from now on. Thanks Alex for an interesting afternoon!

Excelent tour, really nice information about the golden age and discription of all the beautiful buildings Lovely tour to do with friends and family! Also good for teenagers a must do when you visit Amsterdam! Much better then all the big tourist companies, more attention and room for individual questions, definitly do this tour!

The tour with Alexander was great for many reasons. First of all, Alexander knows pretty much everything there is to know about the city, its history and the Golden Age. Secondly, he is really enthusiastic about it all, which makes his stories come to life! Even as a local I now look at the city in a different light. Major plus is also the small groups, so there is plenty of room for questions. All and all, everything you could ask for in a walking tour!

Interesting walking tour by Alex. He knows a lot about the history of Amsterdam and tells a great story. Some old buildings have a lot more to them than meets the eye. Great experience! Thanks Alex.
