We recently moved to Amsterdam and wanted to learn more about this magic city but definetely not from books. We decided to take a 2h walking tour around the city center. We walked down the same areas we visited before but hearing the Bart's stories and explanations a new views opened. It was informative, interesting, suprising, fun. We heard about history, walked down the oldest streets, about present, culture and pride, economy, education, business, care about young and olderly people, about art and architectur. It was a great experience which we will not only remember but also repeat. As soon as the weather is nicer, and the lockdown measures removed we are looking forward to another walk or a boat ride with Bart. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and passion about this unique place!

I traveled to Amsterdam as a female solo traveler and wanted a one-on-one personal guide to take me through the city to see the highlights and areas based on my personal preferences. Happily, I was also guided to places and sights I would not have ventured to on my own as I am an inexperienced traveler and a first time visitor to Amsterdam. Bart was fabulous! He picked me up at my hotel and off we went! He went at my pace and was full of interesting information, humor, and a genuine love of this amazing city. I had a wonderful day! He made sure I made it to the Anne Frank House, got in the correct line and knew how to get myself back to my hotel before ending our tour. Do not hesitate to hire him! He will customize your tour according to your needs! I felt as though I was touring the city with a good friend! "Gezellig", "Borrelen", "Bitterballen"- ask him what these words mean! Thank you Bart!!!!!

My wife and I like to hire a private tour guide when we go somewhere new, and we found a great independent guide in Amsterdam - Bart de Zwart. First of all, he's friendly, professional, well-informed, native and speaks great English. We genuinely enjoyed our time with him and it helped jump-start our visit with his guidance. Bart picked us up at the airport, which worked out really well to start our tour outside the city. He drove us around the countryside first and explained how the country developed going back hundreds of years and how people live there today. After a lovely drive through his own "neighborhood" with canals, dams, bridges, bicycles, sheep, cows and plenty of flowers, we headed into Amsterdam where we toured the city for a 2-3 hours to give us the lay of the land and a great start to our visit to The Netherlands, including helping us understand that bikes rule there so you have to be careful walking. He was also able to give us helpful advice for our own drive to Keukenhof and the flower fields. His rates are reasonable and frankly some of the best money we spent on our trip. We would recommend a 1/2 day or full day with Bart and definitely suggest letting him drive you outside the city to see the countryside - that was a highlight we would not have been able to do nearly as well without Bart. Lot of walking and uneven pavement, so wear your best walking shoes.

From our first contact with Bart de Zwart to our last goodbye, every detail was handled with an exceptional degree of professionalism. Bart immediately responded to our initial email and wanted to know whether we had any special needs and what our interests were in order for him to design a tour that would fit our needs. Initially we thought we would combine a driving and walking tour but ultimately decided on a walking tour using public transportation. Bart was extremely flexible and when we met he provided us with several tour options to choose from as well metro and tram passes. He was careful to establish a pace of the tour that took into account the extremely windy conditions, our age, physical stamina and interests. Since we were interested in architecture, in addition to the old town, he took us to the area of Amsterdam that contained various projects by the Amsterdam School of Architecture. We found him personable, informative and interesting. The four hours we spent with him were enriching and well worth the price of the tour. While Bart is appropriare for any age group, his empathetic personality is uniquely suited for the more mature client who may have some physical limitations.
