Top ways to experience Ripley's Believe It or Not! Amsterdam
The area
Address
Neighborhood: Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.

- Mista Peat1 contributionRipley's Believe it or not!Ripley's Believe it or Not is the best museum i have ever been in, there is so much to do, there is megladon teeth, shrunken heads and a piece of the Berlin Wall and my favourite attraction was a moving anamatronic of Robert Wadlow, the tallest man in the world. It is a little bit expensive but it is worth it. Kids will find it fun because of the interactivity, teens will enjoy it because of the intresting pieces in the museum and adults can also enjoy it because of the history to every object. It is very easy to find in Amsterdam, at Dam Square. The best museum ever!Visited November 2019Traveled with familyWritten March 12, 2020
- Lyudmyla1 contributionMuseum that is perfect for a family outingMy family and I decided to visit this museum and we were very surprised by the number of artefacts we saw there. The children loved it there, and us - the parents - had a lot of fun as well. Moreover, due to us having small children, the staff member informed us very well about the scary part of the museum which could be skipped. However, honestly speaking, it was not scary for the children as they were excited. Overall, we had a very nice visit. Day accomplished!Dear LyudmylaOfilat, Thank you so much for this 5-star review. What a delight to read you enjoyed this with the family. During these challenging times, it is so nice to read that you had a fun family outing. Thank you for the compliments towards our staff, we truly appreciate this. Please visit us again soon, and stay safe and healthy! - beccyKingston-upon-Hull, United Kingdom20 contributionsFun and interestingI was pleasantly surprised with how much there is to see in this museum. The tickets are quite expensive (€22.50 each), but the amount of stuff inside helps make up for it. Really fun and interesting facts across a few floors, all separated into different categories. Would definitely recommend for something to do for a couple of hours! My only negative was how busy it got. In a couple of areas/rooms, there isn't much space to move around so it felt very cramped and made it difficult to look and read everything.Visited February 2023Written March 1, 2023

€23 a ticket to include a free drink when you get to the top.... don't be fooled, alcohol is not included, just a selection of soft drinks.
Museum was relatively interesting but you're not sure how real some of the items are.
Not worth the ticket price by any means.
Ripley's in London is much better and probably cheaper.
Thank u, next

We got a gift voucher for tourist attractions in Amsterdam and we used the last bit of money on getting tickets to Ripley’s. It is an interesting place and worth a visit. We didn’t stay too long though as we had been to the one in New York and we soon realised once you’ve visited one you don’t really need to go to another.

It ‘s a great place to be. It lights up our inner child, be prepared to get surprised! if you’re a Beatles fan, you’ll found some treasures hidden in the musical part. Moreover, the tunnel experience is a vivid one, not to be missed! For the near future, microscopic sculptures in the eye of a needle made by Willard Wigan will be shown, can’t wait for that!

My nine year old son really enjoyed spending time in here. It’s spread over different floors and each floor has a theme and it’s very interactive. We particularly enjoyed the spooky lane and the revolving tunnel.

A lot of very interesting attractions. Really enjoyed walking around and seeing everything. However, I think the price of €20+ for an adult ticket is extremely steep. Definitely worth a visit, but beware it was rather expensive.

I don’t know why I thought this was going to be a waste of money… but we booked anyway. The kids love the books so it was a risk we were willing to take to fill time before heading to the airport. Just under €80 for 5 of us so we hoped for the best….and it actually didn’t disappoint!
Loads of funny, fascinating and engaging items that kept us all interested from start to finish. Easily spent over 2 hours there on a rainy afternoon and it felt like good value by the time we left.

We spend quiet some time in the museum (about 2 hours).
Trying to read most of the signs, but eventually it was a bit too much. Just everything made use very curious. You have so many different kind of things and subjects throughout the museum.
Our 10y old was also able to skip the 'torture' section, which was nicely indicated. But she was highly fascinated by all the other bizarre things.
The little film that was shown about Ripley was also quiet fascinating. I only knew the concept from the tv-show (few years back), so it was actually surprising to know how all of it came about.
Would recommend with teens

Such a fun couple of hours! There were lots of interesting facts in the museum. It was made fun for all the family, with little reading involved. Lots of good photo opportunity with plenty of selfie spots!
