Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.

I've been past this place 5-6 times before and always stopped to look at the window display. As I wanted a piece for my new home, I made a special trip there and spent time chatting with the owner Sam who is very knowledgable about the artworks. Recommended for a bit of shopping or visual experience.

The Cow Museum is located in the west area of Amsterdam and is quite easy to find as you explore the city.

It is well worth checking out if you like unusual things or are a big fan of cows.

As well as a wonderful collection of cows there are also some elephants and prints of cows as well.

The gentleman I spoke to was very knowledgeable and able to tell me alot about the exhibits and the artists who created them.

Well worth checking out.

This is a shop, not a museum. And a rip-off shop at that. If it was a museum, there’d be information on what’s displayed, and things wouldn’t be for sale. Instead, it’s blatantly an overpriced shop that pretends to have a few ‘collectors’ items among its products. However nothing is behind cabinets etc - allegedly ‘rare’ pieces that are supposed to justify the spurious ‘museum’ tag are all just on the shelves with everything else. Price signs are misleading, as apparently they only relate to a handful of items, and the ‘price’ of everything else is arbitrarily made-up by the owner, with bogus spiel about rarity, value etc, to justify ludicrous prices. Coupled with an aggressive unpleasant manner from the guy running this, it’s absolutely a place to avoid.

More than 1500 pieces were sold in 16 years mostly double price comber to the Cow Parade Non of them was return even that we have open time return policy include shipping cost WHY!? because we have 16 catalog one for each year and we show them to the customer And we show when the piece was discontinue which year And for sure hundreds of customers google them and see that its almost 0 chance to get it any where else Next to this we are the only place in the world who have the whole collection of the Cow Parade and the Elephant Parade (the collection that not discontinue) And our prices (- +) 5 -10 euro comber to both companies People comes from another countries to visit this place because we have also more than 400 random cows 20-35 years old collected from all over the world And those pieces NOT FOR SALE that is why we called it Cow Museum and because we DONT WANT PEOPLE TO TOUCH But the only problems and complaints we got is only from guests who don`t like or respect rules And they don`t know that we have more than 25 signs (Please Don`t Touch) for serious reasons Recently guest lift up the Penny Bull (180 EURO) the two hanged horns full down and broke (didn`t pay cent) Recently guest lift up the Muu Traviesa (128 EURO) and the stairs on it full down and broke (didn`t pay cent) We have more than 200 models which are very expensive and not available any where in the world We have car from Forchino cost 900 EURO and Camel from Toms Drag cost 800 EURO Cow Parade is world largest public art event with more than 7000 models and 10000 artist and 95 events around the world And 40 Million euro raised for charity for Hospitals children schools homeliest people I wish that you didn`t stand watching your son sleeping with both arms on the cows shelves and than he start picking up the cows without saying a word to him I wish that your wife didn`t start shout on me (while she is holding discontinue cow in her hand) together with you when i told her that this is expensive cow and discontinue (Small Super cow flying one) by the way the Please Don`t Touch sign it does not says Please Don`t touch unless you want to buy , it says Don't Touch and it didn`t give any exaptation. I wish that you didn`t come so close and your face touch min a few times while i was asking you 20 times to come down and then you both went outside standing and shouting asking people not to come inside I don`t know if this will make you happy but the place looks kind of ugly now because i doubled the Please Don`t Touch Sign to 50 As i mentioned before i have many many items cost over 500 EURO how you want me to write the prices? I have it start from for the small & medium &large but i can not writ news paper in many places on the wall I will attach photos of the expensive items and the signs and the exclusive cows here on Tripadvisor And i really did mean every word i wrote to you this time and not only this time

This is a sight to see when visiting Amsterdam. The shop is filled with cows of all kinds, all of which are hand painted. Each piece showcases meticulous artistry and an insane amount of imagination. I have yet to see anything as unique as the cow museum!

What a great little shop. So many great cow and elephant figurines. The service and backup is fantastic . If you are in Amsterdam,it’s worth a visit and I would be surprised if you don’t walk out with a cow or two and enjoy the experience. Well done Wasim, keep up the good work. Look forward to my new cows arriving.

I didn't realise they didn't allow photos. I snapped one and the staff yelled at me. How bloody rude is that. Spoiled the rest of my day. Cows look good but not worth going there to be yelled at.

This is a quirky little shop and museum located at Leliegracht that we recently visited while browsing the Ring Canals of Amsterdam. Opening hours 12 to 10pm daily.

Here you find an eclectic arrangement of Cow and other animal related items, some of which are for sale and others that are permanent items for viewing only.

Have a quick look if you like/collect cow items or simply want to spend a few minutes seeing what is on display at the Cow Museum in Amsterdam.

Expected a museum, instead found a small shop selling cow statues. This was a huge disappointment and waste of time.
Fine for someone wanting to collect trinkets or hoarders.

We bought a very colourful china pig here! This is a shop rather than a museum, I think you can get tickets to the museum though.

Very friendly staff, enjoyed chatting to them!
