About
The Kaaskelder is situated in the beautifully restored Dutch East India Company warehouse ‘D'Eendragt’ on Singel in Amsterdam. The Kaaskelder has a wide selection of Henri Willig cheeses and other typically Dutch treats and souvenirs. Why not combine it with a visit to the Bloemenmarkt flower market, the last canal market of Amsterdam?

Neighborhood: Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.

After walking by these stores several times worried that i couldn’t take the cheese back to the US, I finally went in. Turns out they have a little sticker on the back that will settle any customs worries! They also have all kinds of cute souvenirs! The cheese is amazing there were so many I wanted to take them all... I will definitely be back here when I return for next work trip!

This was the first place we entered on our self-tour of Edam. The people are so very friendly, interesting and accommodating. We were able to sample almost every flavor of Edam cheese there is. There was no pressure to buy, just enjoy the experience.

We took a 40 minute bus on the second level of Amsterdam Central to reach Edam. The entire town is absolutely quaint. We came in June as the famous Cheese Market does not operate until July and August. Having the Henri Willig experience made up for it. We did purchase a package of “Pesto” Edam cheese!

You really need to try these cheeses they are so good. They have a pesto Gouda that is very different and very good. You also must try their smoked Goudas. You can take most of their cheeses back to the states as long as they have been pasteurized. These were the same cheeses that were served on our wine and cheese tour through the canals.

You are encouraged to look around this amazing store filled with edam and gouda cheese made with different milks and flavouring. I highly recommend the tubs of different cheeses (complete with toothpick) and mustard which make a very cheap snack. In addition to all the cheeses, there are cheese accouterments such as crackers, breadsticks as well as cheese cutters, slicers and cheese boards. There are steps down to the cheese floor, which might cause difficulty for those with pushchairs and wheelchairs.
