Avoid if scared of heights !!
The swing experience is short but not sure we would have liked it any longer ! Lots views from the top. Very quiet when we went. You’re able to get professional photos on the swing but have to pay for these at the end. Staff were friendly and helpful

    Over the edge swing!
I took the free ferry across the water to A’DAM lookout, staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. I went early so it wasn’t too busy. You are asked to sit in front of a green screen and get photos with Amsterdam as the backdrop, then you will enter a lift that has an exciting light show all the way up to the 22nd floor where there is more photo opportunities with the A’DAM sign and atop a horse and of course there is the over the edge swing which was such a thrilling experience. It was scarier and faster than I imagined it was going to be but once over that initial fear it’s a great experience and I would highly recommend and afterwards grab yourself a drink and a bean bag and think about what the hell you just did and pat yourself on the back! You are given a card with a barcode in order to purchase and download photos and a video as proof that you went on the swing and you survived. The gift shop is great too with cool 3D postcards, posters, pens, homeware games, toys and sweets. But I will say it is quite costly and if it wasn’t for the swing there’s not much else I would want to see or do here.
Great to read your long review Casey. Love to read it when people had an amazing time.

    Brilliant experience
We loved our visit to the Lookout and spent a couple of hours chilling in the bar looking at the views. We got the tickets with 2 drinks included which we thought was good value for money (£20.50 each if booked online). There was plenty of seating in the bar area and the open top deck where the swing is had a more chilled vibe with big bean bags. Would highly recommend.
Thank you for your review and visit. Great to read you had a nice time.

    Great view
I guess if you are visiting Amsterdam then this is the place for tourists to see one of the best views of the city. I cannot say I was too impressed with the bar or menu. The swings are clearly fun for most people. I am glad I went, but I think once is enough. I would recommend my friends and family to visit, just for the view. It is also fun taking the small 5 minute ferry to the other side from the railway station to get there.
Thank you for your visit and review.

Lot of fun, but the swing is so high!
Did the A'dam Lookout tower on 18th September 2023. Recommend getting the Lookout and Thrills ticket as this includes entry to the top of the tower, the Over The Edge swing ride, and a VR rollercoaster through Amsterdam. Be warned, the swing is not good if you don't like heights! My partner was laughing at me the whole time. 🤣 The VR rollercoaster is way more fun. You also get photos included in the package, but if you want any printed that costs extra. Recommend the digital package for 5 Euros. A fun experience and a great way to view Amsterdam from above.
Thank you so much for your great review!

The building and lookout are amazing!
The A'Dam building is so cool and looking around it, and seeing the history of how it was built was very informative. We did the 360 swing at the top and what an amazing view it was! I highly recommend this experience! The only negative thing is that you aren't allowed to bring your camera on the swing. The guide said I would receive a free picture; instead I got an email link to 4 photos and a short video that was for purchase only of $31

Great view and great time on the swing!
The views from on A’dam Lookout are spectacular. The restaurant is upbeat and the swing over the edge is GREAT. It’s a smooth and gentle ride for about 2 minutes. Easy. Do it. They take pics and give you an access code to them at the end.
Thank you for the review Colleen. Great to read.

Fun way to experience Amsterdam & the ‘Holland Xperience’
Loved the lookout! Go up and enjoy a great cocktail while taking in the total view of the city. It’s a fun ferry ride there too. Make sure to do the Holland Experience, right by the lookout point. You can get a package deal to go up to the lookout, go on the swing & do the Holland experience. Wonderful for couples or families.

    Good evening out
We really enjoyed this, we wanted to do something local to our hotel and thought the meal/drink ticket with extra for swing was pretty good value. The meals and drinks are expensive if you buy them outside that, and choice is limited on deal but food was decent and the swing was great fun, and the view really beautiful in the day and night. The lift up was fun too.
Thank you Sarah for your visit and review. Great to read you had an amazing time.

We went in the late afternoon for the view and the swing and we took advantage of the Menu Deal from the website. The experience is nice and the swing is quite cool, although it lasts around 2 minutes only. The staff at the lookout is nice and helpful, I wish I could say the same for the restaurant. The restaurant is not well managed, there were dirty tables everywhere (in a COVID pandemic) and we had to ask twice to someone to clean our table. Also the staff pretends not to see you and it is not well explained that is a almost-self-service formula, so you have to go, order and pick up your own drinks and food. A bit striking since they were clearly overstaffed and there was staff chatting everywhere. The food is fine, nothing exciting, which is a bit disappointing since it could compliment the view, but it does not. I would recommend to go and enjoy a nice beer and the view but do not dine in, you can easily find a better burger "on the ground" for the same price.

The A’dam Lookout is a decent experience if you’re after something a bit different and a little off the usual track in Amsterdam.

If you’re a photographer or just enjoy a nice view in general, it’s worth the trip up to the top. The view back over the station is fantastic.

However, I do feel as if it is quite expensive for what it is.
We booked the premium package for I believe about €20pp thinking we can use the tokens you get on a burger at the top and get a meal while we’re there.
You can’t use the tokens on food gone 4:30 it transpires. Which I don’t think it really states on the website very clearly (fair enough if I missed it). It does however state it right at the bottom of the ticket, but if I didn’t see it clearly on the website and found it in my ticket after booking, I’d still feel gutted.
We then decided that we would use our tokens on some nice cocktails. You can’t use them on the nice cocktails on the wall, only on the tiny select menu. These were basically glorified ginger beer and sprite.
So we eventually used them on two beers each. The beers were pretty flat Heineken half’s which were about 40% head. So not great. (Pictured).

The swing was okay, again €5 is a little expensive but for the novelty it’s not bad for the money. Just don’t do it if you’re scared of heights.

Overall going up to the top to see the view is great and you can get some amazing pictures. The swing is okay and I would say do it if you’re going up already. It’s not worth the money for the lift ride up and the cost of the swings just to ride the swings though.
Do plan ahead if you plan to get the premium package and not get disappointed like we did.

As a photographer I was happy with the pictures I took from the top and that’s the only real reason it’s not lower than 3 stars to be honest.
I probably wouldn’t rank it in a top ten list of things to do in Amsterdam but maybe something to do if you’re on a longer stay and are looking to kill and afternoon.

The free boat ride over is great fun though!

Hi James, Thank you so much for rating us. We're happy to hear you took the chance to take some nice pictures upstairs. We do indeed state on our website that the burgers have to be ordered before 18:00. This is also mentioned on our tickets. We understand that this isn't that clear on all parts of our website. We will definitely take your feedback into account. All the best, Team A'DAM Lookout.

We bought the tickets to the top of the lookout that included 2 free drinks tokens and then the swing seat tickets on top of that. It costs a reasonable amount anyway, so we’d recommend getting the drinks tokens so that you spend longer up there. The swing was great fun however and definitely something you should do! The views were lovely and it was pretty quiet on top of the building, which was surprising!

The swing is a must do in Amsterdam. We arrived it was raining, windy and we still done it and got great photo’s, our video is just us laughing the whole time. So much fun. Well worth the money.

Its located behind Amsterdam centaal station, the ferry over to it is free. They don’ take cash inside only card payments

The A'DAM lookout is basically a viewing platform at the top of a converted office block with the addition of a bar and restaurant. There are also a couple of other paid for attractions at the top such as the 'Over The Edge Swing' which is good fun.

You can spend as long as you like on the viewing platform and there are great views of all Amsterdam (although sadly a new, taller tower block is being built next to it meaning views from one side are now completely obscured).

You can pre-book drinks and food for a slight advance discount. We pre-booked drinks however it took ages to get served at the bar as there seemed to be a lack of staff and even then the staff member couldn't get anything right and was rather grumpy.

We had also paid extra for the swing ride but when we arrived for our allocated slot, the queue was huge as not all swings were running. As we had other places to be later in the day, we asked how long the queue might take and we were abruptly told "I don't know". Not great customer service.

We had combined the visit with the 'This is Holland' attracted which was great which probably helped make the visit more fun. If we had just done the Lookout, I don't think we would have felt quite so upbeat about it.

At the end of the day you are paying for a view from a tower block with everything else available as paid for extras. If customer service isn't great, it does feel as if it's not the best experience however overall, it was a nice thing to do, especially as the sun came out and it was very pleasant wandering round looking at views.

For me, this is a must-do for anyone visiting Amsterdam, even if you're not a fan of heights, and it is very easy to get to for free on foot from the centre of Amsterdam.

You can reach the tower using the free and frequent foot ferry which departs from the waterside of Amsterdam Central Station. These run every few minutes and you don't need to book, with the journey taking only a few minutes to reach the other side. The tower is then a very short walk 2 minute walk from the terminal.

We paid on arrival during a weekday afternoon when it wasn't too busy and didn't have to queue for long. There are plenty of options, whether you want to do all of the experiences on offer or simply head up to the lookout for an unrivalled view over the city.

My wife and I didn't fancy the swings so we simply enjoyed the lookout, which offers 360 degree views. You can view from inside on the first level or outside on the second. You also gain access to the bar/restaurant which offers the same views as well as binoculars. It isn't the cheapest establishment but you can expect to pay a bit more for the views on offer.

All of the staff are very friendly and helpful, adding to the experience. Good amenities on site too, with easy access to toilets.

Would highly recommend visiting around an hour before the sunset to get the best views of day, sunset and night!

A regular ticket is € 14,50 and that is only for going up to the roof terrace no swing or drinks included. The 360 degree views are stunning but I'm sure there are cheaper options to peer out at the city; will investigate when back in Amsterdam.
Before taking the lift up, you have to pass a photographer for the group photo session. As we were not interested in buying another photoshopped memory picture, we politely declined, however, the photographer didn't want to hear it and told us there wouldn't be a charge. Nice, a free souvenir, so we posed on the beam after all. Very naive, at the exit we learned that the pictures were €15. Maybe she meant that the process of taking a picture would be free? They should be more clear and a 'no' should be accepted.
It's all about money making in the end.

Visited A’Dam lookout for the “lookout swing”. We were running late however the team were very understanding and let us through.

We went up the lift which showed a cool short light show though the glass roof of the lift. We then queued for a short while for the swing which had some amazing views!! So worth it! Just beware if you are scared of heights you might feel slightly on edge!

We then grabbed a drink which are extremely overpriced, €6 for a can of red bull, around €10-€12 for a alcoholic drink from a plastic cup, however the views were so worth the trip!

To get there, we did grab an uber from Damrak as we were running late, it was quite a loop trip and cost €15. We returned back to Centraal station by catching the free ferry which is a 2 min walk from A’Dam lookout, it took 5 mins and brought us to the other side of the station. Definitely go by foot & take the free ferry there it will be cheaper and quicker!

I attended the A’DAM lookout yesterday, after pre-booking tickets for myself and a friend.
The premium tickets I purchased allowed us to have one cocktail each in exchange for the tokens I was given at the entrance.
The cocktails were lovely, and well worth the extra £6 each.
The experience started with great visuals, in the elevator, which was exaggerated once we reached the top of the building.
For £5 a swing ticket can be purchased, which I was happy to pay for such an extraordinary experience. Highly recommended for people who like an adrenaline rush.

Overall the experience was very good.

Free ferries run from the centraal station, and the A’DAM building is only a minute walk from the dock.

We got a free entrance from This is Holland as a replacement to Madurodam entrance ticket. I felt that the value worth the ticket price. At the entrance the person in charge asked us to take some photos for free and we can download anytime. Then we queued up for taking the lift to the top. The lift showed colorful lights that was amazing. Upon reach the top, just can't believe how beautiful the city of Amsterdam at night. It was pretty cold up there during winter especially when strong winds were blowing. The night view was really amazing. We actually queued up for the swing ride but our ticket didn't include the ride. It was a pity as we a=queued up for sometimes but ended up we were not eligible.. We just hang around and took some photos. There was a bar that you can purchase some snacks and drinks.
