My friend and I were in Amsterdam for a few days and wanted to see as much of the city as we could in a short time. We were surprised to find such a well-rated free tour and to be honest, we didn't expect much. But the free dam tours really surpassed my best estimations as to what we would experience. Our guide was Johnny (sp?), born and raised in Amsterdam, who was super upbeat and fun. He led the way with confidence and always had a well-timed joke to make us forget that we were in the pouring rain for 2 hours. I would highly recommend these tours to anyone looking for a good laugh and plenty of knowledge about the city.

It took me a while to write this review as there was a lot to say about them. Luckily I ended going to two of his tours.

The first tour was a bit shorter and a bit more personal. His enthusiasm was matched only by his attitude and happiness during the tour. There was even an interactive screenplay involved which was really cool.

The second tour was a bit longer one, which some of our badly dressed tourmates found not that overly excited since it was windy. The tour was more interesting since there were new and cool things to see in Amsterdam and the group was also really good.

Nick has an extremely good and fun personality and charisma and if the group gives him a little bit of working material he can do his magic. As a guide, he was very knowledgeable and funny and because he had such great charisma which sat rather well with the group, it is one of the best parts of my visit to Amsterdam. Also, he has some subtle things which if you pick up will make the experience even better.

I can not recommend enough to go visit his tour but wear something windproof because Amsterdam isn't a cold city, it's just windy so you might get a bit chilly.

Tour guide was Sergio, who provided an interesting and informative 2.5 hour walking tour of Amsterdam. Taking in many of the key tourist spots Sergio kept everyone's attention with his stories and knowledge of the City's history, background and culture. Extremely enjoyable way of finding your way around the City. Included in the tour were some free local biscuits to taste and a post card of the Palace, where the tour finished, for each person as a keepsake from the tour. Would highly recommend this tour company and this tour.

My boyfriend and I took a free walking tour in Freedam Tours with our Tour Guide Ricardo. The service given by the tour guide was excellent. He explained the history of the city and we had the opportunity to visit the most famous places in the center of the city, In addition, he answered all questions and always with a smile and funny way. He brought a present (cookies) for all the participants as well (I joined some other free walking tours and he was much better guide than others). We enjoyed the city with the tour guide and I strongly recommend it!

This tour is one of the top things I would highly recommend if you have limited time in the city. Sebastien is an amazing storyteller. We got to experience the Amsterdam's history as well as present like never before. From his personal story as a kid to the historical stories of Amsterdam's tolerance, everything made us feel the city like we could never without such hyper local guide. And the cookies at the end were a cherry on the top.

We had a three hour tour with Joran on 5th February 2020. I really liked Joran’s style - he was easygoing, friendly and informative. I really enjoyed this tour, because we were able to find out a lot about the history and culture of Amsterdam and gain a better understanding of the things we saw around us. I also like the concept of paying what you think the tour was worth at the end rather than paying a fixed fee at the beginning.

We did a really great walking tour with Nick! He knows so many cool and interesting facts about Amsterdam. Apart from that, Nick did a fantastic and entertaining storytelling by combining personal experience with facts about the city. You could really tell that he loves Amsterdam. I highly recommend doing this tour with him!

I just concluded a week long holiday in Amsterdam, Bruges and Brussels. I took a total of four walking tours and I can say that both my friend and I rated our tour of Amsterdam (with Joran as our guide on Dec 28th) the highlight of those four tours. He is a natural. Super conversational, his nice mix of historical and cultural commentary comes off with ease and makes the learned information much easier to retain. He also shared a stroopwafel snack with our group (which was about twenty people) midway through the tour. The only constructive feedback I would offer is that, given the cold winter weather, it would have been awesome if one stop along the way could have been indoors. Both my friend and I learned a lot about the city in a relatively short amount of time. Kudos to Joran for being such a phenomenal guide!

The best city tour ever! We had a tour with Sergio. He tells all the facts about history, wealth and sins in Amsterdam in a very funny manner. It is a pity that he is not a teacher anymore because I remember all the information he told us. Definitely join the tour during you stay in Amsterdam!

We always do one of these 'pay what you like' tours when we hit a new city. Always lots of interesting snippets of information. This was not the most dynamic or distance covering tour I've ever done, but Jaap was entertaining and enthusiastic, and despite the gruesome weather, it was fun. Always recommend you check these tours out as a great insight to a city.

Hi Carli, I’m glad you enjoyed the tour, despite the weather. I hope you can understand that when the weather is as bad as when you attended the tour (it literally rained hard from beginning to end) we shorten the route and information given, which is why you may have felt the distance covered wasn’t very long, and the tour not as ‘dynamic’ as you may have hoped - that is very tall order when it’s raining cats a dogs :) I hope you get to experience our tour when it’s dry some day!
