Truly a magical experience. I took my (almost) 8 year old here and we arrived at 9:30 (half an hour before opening).
If you're coming on a weekend or holiday,
I highly recommend you come early and skip past the small stuff and head straight to roller coasters (if that's your thing). In general, queues last around 30-40 minutes so its not so bad.
Food is affordable and not horrible, but you can also bring your own food and more importantly your own water.
Another tip, download the app so you can plan your route, get all you attraction photos digitally and know the waiting times for each ride.
Come with an appetite for fun. You won't be disappointed.

I had a 3 night stay in December with my husband and 17 month old daughter. We flew to Amsterdam and stayed in the centre for 1 night, from there we got the train aprox 1.5 hours and a direct bus from the train station to Efteling. Transport was really easy I downloaded the NS app this has the exact time and route to make everything much smoother. On arrival at Efteling we were shown to the lockers (if you are staying over they are free of charge!!) all of the staff are really friendly and very helpful. The food was reasonably priced and throughout the park there was a large variety of different snacks and restaurants. I was not expecting to be able to enjoy most of the rides as we took our daughter however I was very pleasantly surprised to find that we were allowed on most of the children’s rides, the waiting time for rides was short and we were able to ride all of the adult rides as a single rider. We stayed at Loonschland and it was just stunning, immaculate and the restaurant is incredible it has a small play area for when the children are waiting to eat, a short walk from the hotel is an animal enclosure and mini parks for the children to play before or after visiting the park. On arrival back to the UK we went to Alton Towers CBeebies land and we were very disappointed to find our daughter was not tall enough for any of the rides. We also thought that we may get bored with having 4 full days in the park however each day we seen something new to explore. All of the shows where in Dutch but you always knew what was happening and after we had a chance to speak with the actors/ actresses which was a lovely touch.. every staff member also spoken English! I have also been to Disney Land Paris and had to pay to have breakfast with the characters, in Efteling the characters do come around and speak to you whilst you are eating again this is free of charge and a lovely gesture for the children. If I haven’t convinced you already you must put Efteling on your bucket list as you will not be disappointed.. we can’t wait to come back next year!!!

Our day started with Baron 1898 which immediately blew us away with the overall storyline and experience. Moving to other coasters, this remained the same: incredible theming and great ride experiences. However, the coasters are not all there is to offer; there are immersive dark rides and fun water rides that made us laugh and were worth the wait! It was a relatively busy, hot day but it didn’t feel packed and there was room to move without being right up against people. The queues were not unbearably long and the theming inside the queues was mostly interesting and took our minds off the waits themselves.

First of all, we came early to find ourselves directed to the parking the farest away from the entrance whilst the parkings in front were completely empty.
The saddest part is that, electric vehicles are allowed to park closer to the entrance than people with a disability! Shame on you efteling.
The covid restrictions are a joke for safety but allow to create ridiculous waiting lines. Most attractions are filled for 50% at best. There is little to no disinfectant available and the social distancing is not enforced. Even getting a coffee takes 30 minutes.
Toverland is 30% cheaper, and does a way better job. This park is just there to get your money.

Efteling is imposing vouchers valid until June 2021 rather than processing refunds even when requested by customers. As a father of a disabled child it is not possible to plan in advance holidays into next year and a refund would have been the best option for me but I have been refused outright. I find this position to be counter to the advice given within the EU from holiday companies. I have set up a FB group for Efteling Holiday cancellations as there’s more power in greater numbers as I’m sure there are other customers who have been refused refunds who cannot guarantee they’ll be in a position to rebook again within the next year.
I’ve never visited Efteling before and on this service basis I don’t think I ever will!

We’ve visited several times before so we knew what to expect. It is a great park with attractions for all ages - that’s what makes it so special; there is something for everyone. There are very fast paced rides and also lots of gentle rides and family shows. There was a lot of construction work happening when we visited and, as a result, I felt that it wasn’t as magical as it had been in the past. We missed walking through the main entrance and the diggers and construction noise took away from the feeling of escape. Also, our favourite rollercoaster was out of action. That said, we had a great day although it was very busy.

We booked as a family of 4 on a Christmas package. Unfortunately Holland went into lockdown a couple of days before the trip so reluctantly we had to cancel. We called Efteling to let them know our scenario and the customer service team could not have dealt with the issue better and were completely understanding of our situation. A full refund was issued and back in my bank account in less than a day which is more than I can say for Ryanair who would not refund the flights and charged me a small fortune to transfer the flights to a later date in the year.
Really disappointed we didn't get to Efteling but we will definitely plan a visit once the COVID pandemic settles down again.

I have been visiting Efteling my whole
Life (34 years). Yes it was busy as it was Easter and you had to queue but all theme parks would be the same during a holiday season.
The App helps you plan the day and queue times. To be honest the park has doubled in size since I started going so we stay there and spend 3-5 days at the park at a slow pace to bath in the delights the park has to offer.
Others mention smoking. I am not and have never been a smoker. I didn’t see any smoking issues except the odd person in a queue. It’s not policed brilliantly but the Netherlands is not like the UK in regards to smoking so you have to accept the culture.
The park is beautiful and well maintained. The food is lovely and priced as per any theme park. The staff are helpful and accommodating. The holiday was a package at their bosrijk village and was moved 4 times due to covid. We had no issues with customer services once. We didn’t want a refund as we were happy to move the booking. Most companies will not issue refunds due to the mass losses they have occurred so personally I see no issue in a free moving of dates as it means they can survive as a company.
Thank you Efteling for a wonderful family holiday. Adults: 8 children: 3 ages 2-73 so perfect for all.

We've been to this theme park many times in the past and have enjoyed going, especially with our children. A variety of attractions for every age makes this park a good outing for families with children of various ages.
What is also good about this theme park is that it is open year round with differing themes: spring, summer, autumn and winter. As the temperatures dip, fewer attractions are open (the water-based ones are closed for the season), but there are many indoor attractions to keep young and old occupied.

What a wonderful place to visit. We stayed in the loonsche land, in a tree house. Upon arrival, we were delighted to see a cute little cabin surrounded by woods, upon entering it was a spacious, underfloor heated, big space with everything we needed for our stay. All bedding and towels included. The kids loved it. There is a food shop onsite with a minimal selection but a 10 minute drive too you to a supermarket where you could get everything you need.
From outside the hotel, (if you didnt stay in a cabin)a regular train took you to the park every day and returned. The 15 min walk (if you didnt take train) was through a woodland. The park was fabulous I have to say. The fairytale land was the old fashioned none commercialised original story place that was amazing to walk around. It took over 2 hours to walk around and see all the quaint cottages and figures. The rides throughout the park were suitable for all ages and despite some short queues were well worth it. The weather was not good but didnt stop us having a great time. The last night we were lucky enough to experience the most fabulous water light show, a spectacular show that lasted around 15 mins. So good that despite the rain we would not leave til end. A great selection of food stalls reasonably priced, characters walking around, friendly staff, amazing chocomel hot choc to warm up, shows, wood fire pits, Christmas decorations, fresh pizzas/pastas delivered to your door, disabled friendly, what more could you ask for to make a magical start to Christmas!! Would 100% return.

How many days would people recommend visiting for? Thinking of staying at the park for a few days in Easter with a large young family

Honestly the park isn’t huge 2 days should be enough to do most of the rides, see most of the shows and see the fairytale forest. I would say 2 days and 3 if you wanna take it slow/make sure you do everything/would like to do certain things twice
When we booked the on-site hotel, it said it had 2-day park tickets included. How do we get these tickets?
Don’t worry, it seems that they send it in the post.

Many thanks

Just wondering if you are staying in the efteling village bosrijk, are you allowed to have a drink in the bar of the hotel in the evenings?

Rules for restaurants and bars changed very recently. If the bar/restaurant can seat more than 100 inside then you would need to make a reservation. You DO still need to keep 1.5m from someone else not from your household at the bar, though.

Hi, There is a nice restaurant with a play area inside the Efteling hotel. Depending on the season, you may need to do prior booking in the restaurant. Also, depending on the season there are quite a few options to eat inside the park after hours.

Hi, are the attractions and storytelling all in Dutch or in English?

I only remember the attractions etc being in Dutch, however this by no way spoiled our time at the park, you don't have to speak the language to understand whats happening, we thoroughly enjoyed our day.
