Reptielenhuis de Aarde is the first official zoo of Breda. This mini-zoo is specialised in holding and caring for reptiles. The first impression of this miniature zoo is that everything is very clean and child friendly. Children get the chance to pet or even hold some animals, also every question will be answered by the animal carer. The enclosures are bigger than you normally see in a zoo. Every animal has its own habitat and temperature, that is how we ensure that every animals wellbeing is as high as possible. Curious..? Come see the zoo in Breda and discover the world of reptiles!

Whenever You have a minute while in Breda and You are craving something different... Make Your way to De AArde Reptile House. Very friendly atmosphear. As as much as for reptiles as much for any guests walking in. We have spent some time inside. The very first impression: WOW they know what they are doing. They have really decent collection... An unexpected place to go to on a rainy day. Nicely setup and spacious terrariums for the reptiles. We loved the place and the knowledgeable staff.

Our kids loved this place! We went many times and was a favorite during rainy days. It is a large place with 2 levels of large enclosures filled with snakes, lizards, turtles, etc. There is coffee and snacks for the kids. There is a great outdoor area that is covered with a sandbox and toy reptiles to play with. Everytime... More

Nice place, friendly owners. Not soo big but I love the entusiasm and the expertise from the owners. The animals are well maintained. You can pet them while the keepers keep a save eye on you. Love this place!

Arrived to a beautiful setting of Tortoises able to bask in the sunshine. Owners very welcoming and ensured we had a excellent visit by offering us snakes to handle and a scary lizard. Although small I would definitely recommend especially with children as able to handle the reptiles. We relaxed in the gardens with reasonably priced drinks and was an... More

De Aarde is a small reptile zoo housed in one building, making it hard to compare it to more traditional zoos. Nonetheless, the enclosures at De Aarde are beautiful, and gives you the opportunity to watch the reptiles in a great way. Combined with the very friendly and knowledgeable staff, this means that you can have a very personal way... More

I went here with my children of 4 and 6. Like said before, it is not a huge building with reptiles but the fact that it is a little smaller in combination with friendly and helpfull personel makes it a lot more interactive as in a normal zoo. This way it is possible to touch more reptiles and even get... More

This is a really great afternoon out with the kids. Lots to see for a small shed. One point I really found interesting was that this stemmed from the owners hobby of reptiles. the staff are super friendly and informative, and have lots of patience with the kids there. Been twice now and would recommend.

It is small only in the sense that there are not a lot of different species. The layout is very spacious and the animals have the biggest enclosures I have seen in reptile houses. Good for the animals and good for us, because there's a great view. Everyone working there is friendly and passionate about the animals. I'm not a... More
