I'm not a fan of writing negative reviews but this museum was just so impressively boring. Like some people mentioned in their reviews - there is no information in English which is pretty unusual in the Netherlands. I do understand Dutch but it did not make the museum any more exciting, neither the historical part nor the paintings. I did... More

Yesterday we drove one hour to visit this Museum ,lured by the website, showing beautiful old Netherlandish painting and sculpture. We bought our tickets and went in. First we had to make our way through several rooms full of mostly awful portraits. Then we got to an interesting exhibit on an important moment in national history. Not a word in... More

Check the website to see what they have at the time when you want to go. I know there is a permanent collection, which is great to start with. Take your time in this museum. Do not rush through it within an hour. You can see everything in one afternoon.

The collections about the history of Breda are interesting. It really gave me a sense about how people led a life hundreds of years ago in Breda. The sword, map and palace model inspired me to know more about this historical city. However, all descriptions about all kinds of collections are in Dutch. It seems that the people who run... More

This museum doesn't belong in a city like Breda. Amateuristic and boring, won't be going there again

Our royal family (the Nassau's) lived and became buried in Breda before they became protestants. I love this museum. They show highlights of our history how our Kingdom struggle to emerge from 80 years effort. It was ignited by William of Orange. The Breda museum shows - in a video - the 400(!) pages illustrations of this history. Moreover .... More

As a person of Dutch parentage born in Australia, I struggled to fully appreciate this museum. Unlike many other museums in the Netherlands, there was virtually no signage in English. There are significant displays about Breda and its role in the struggle against the Spanish - particularly interesting is the story of the turf ship. I am sure that the... More

A small smart museum. This place has it all. The exhibitions are done very professionally changing quite often. We got good explanations from our local guide and it was worth our while. it's a 2 hour visit - worth doing.
