Since 2016 Breda has this modern stationcomplex. Residential and office towers complement the stationbuilding. At the time a gigantic project costing 144,5 million euros. The train station is functional and well organized. Moreover it is part of the new HSL (High Speed Line) system in Europe with connections to Paris and London.
The major drawback is the new structure does not blend in very well with the surroundings. As if the architects just visited the site to take measurements and went back to their office drawing boards. I have the same problem with new stations in for instance Amersfoort or Arnhem. Not cosy, though improvement outweighs the disavantages.

Bicycle parks, trains, car park and bus terminal: Breda Railway Station has everything in one place in an organised, contemporary way. We arrived in Breda for the day via an on-time service from 's-Hertogenbosch, utilised the locker facilities and walked fifteen minutes (at most) into the main Breda market area. Excellent transportation hub.

I thought Breda station was very dark and even looked a bit sad. Not necessarily very clear either. I wouldn't come here for the fun. Fortunately, that is generally not what you come to do at a station.
