The 13th century church was originally a women's abbey and now it's a national monument. Beautiful building though the inside wall's colour is a litte bit dull but this church has a lot of beautiful artefact with high value. You should not miss it when you're in Roermond.

Beautiful building. Majestic architecture.

During my visit, I heard the stone used to build the church is only found in Roermond. That was a little bonus I believe.

Anyhow, it's a place worth seeing. The attention to detail is amazing.

Though the original construction dates from the early 1200s, the appearance of the church feels more 19th century. This is probably due to the drastic changes the architect Pierre Cuypers proposed and applied during restoration in the period 1850 - 1890. Its style is categorized as romanogothic. Indeed the interior is very light and high up, while the robust foundation is more down to earth.

In this Minster is the tomb of the Count and Countess of Gelre. This church is partly rebuilt by Pierre Cuypers, a well known architect of Roermond. This man also built Rijksmuseum and Central station in Amsterdam.

In the middle of the city Roermond a beautiful 13th century church. Inside, see the photo, Graaf en gravin van Gelre. The towers are 60 m high. The Munsterplein , in front of the church, is one of the nicest square of Holland!!!

We just had a walk through the city in the evening. This church was definitely the highlight. It is more impressive than the cathedral (at least from the outside) and worth a visit.

This is one of those places that looks quite grey and unappealing but it full of beautiful items. The altar is stunning and the volunteers were very helpful and spoke very good English. They were keen for us to know how passionately they feel about this beautiful building. Just outside we enjoyed a soft drink and some live music too which was a bonus

This church is beautiful; and has a significant history. Look at the tile work on the altar! It is special! And the two gisants are exceptional. But most of all, talk to the volunteers at the back of the church! They will go out of their way to explain why this is a special church.

In the center of Roermond this beautiful relatively small Church is a must see for visitors to this town. The lower part is Romanesque , upper layer and top was later added/ restored in Gothic style by the architect Cuypers ( old resident of Roermond).
It is only open a few hours a day. Service ( holy mass) almost every day and in weekends.
