The Andre Rieu concert in Toronto was our first and probably our last. The schmaltzy performance and tireless pandering made us feel like we should be somewhere else or we had gone meshugana. The inclusion of gospel, movie and disney tunes just added to the circus-like evening. On a bright note, Verdi's aria and the entrance of a clan of bagpipers added a bit of unexpected levity and pomp. We had hoped for an evening of classical music and operettas but this was not to be. We suggest carefully reading the advertisement for the show before committing to purchase tickets and be prepared for an onslaught of shameless advertising of future shows and trips during the intermission.

We went to see Andre Rieu in Chicago last night. Excellent in every way from their grand entrance to the flowers on the stage. Andre was on his game and embraced the crowds. When the bagpipers marched down the center aisle I lost it! Perfect and very dramatic! When the black gospel singers joined him on stage, it was unreal! Perfect blend of classic, old world, today and tomorrow all enrobed with music! Must see! Yes, it does need a huge venue. Go. Jacqueline Gillam Fairchild Wolke

A wonderful evening spent at the Vrijthof a few days ago listening to Andre Rieu and his Johann Strauss orchestra. The concert was first class with several guest artists as well as a "bull" run! A thoroughly enjoyable concert which was not only inspiring it was also great fun.

We really love Andre Rieu and his music so this was a lovely Christmas treat for me. Unfortunately it was ruined by the rude lady in front of me who had her arms at full height photographing the whole time (no selfie sticks allowed, but this was worse). Hubby had paid to upgrade seats, but this was the worse seat ever. Have not got one photo that is not of her arms. I asked her politely if she could put her arms down a little but was met with rudeness and finger gestures. No piccolos around to complain to. Lovely music but should be more staff around to check on this.

The most beautiful city in the Netherlands!
A feast for the eyes. And so clean!
Everything In this top quality fairytale city is amazing. The architecture, the food and drinks, the shops, the people are very friendly helpful and jolly. It's just the best place to be. You'll never want to leave. (I'm living back here again after living all over Europe for 30 years; it's like being on a permanent holiday in your home town, so much to see do and enjoy)

Vrijthof is a erfect place to sit at a cafe/restaurant with a drink and watch the world go by.

We stayed in a Hotel Amrath just around the corner which was perfect.

We walked from the train station about 15 min.

Highly recommended

Best place to go to see André Rieu. 85yr old mother+friend thoroughly enjoyed it - we were lucky enough to get central front row seats so photos came out great. We're a musical family so enjoyed it even more. Dutch are so friendly we were sorry to come away.

We bought The Andre Rieu VIP Package which included hotel, meals and concert tickets. Our seats were in the front row and all was enjoyable until just after the interval when hoards of people who had bought tickets at the back suddenly stormed to the front and stood in front of us, crushing and trampling on our feet and totally blocking our view of the stage. Apparently this is quite acceptable to the organizers so beware If you pay for VIP seats at the front because you are going to get crushed and your view blocked as apparently it happens at every concert. Those paying for the privilege of sitting at the front shouldn't have to put up with this. It completely ruined what, up to then, was a very enjoyable event. Better to buy a ticket at the back!

We (two friends) came off a Prague-Budapest-Amsterdam Cruise. We had purchased an Andre Rieu VIP Package to the 20 July Concert. We booked through Andre Rieu Travel Co (good operators, all by email) three weeks before departing NZ. We caught a 9.30am train from Amsterdam to Maastricht Station (about 25EU each), taxi to Hotel Kruisherenhotel and that's where a whole new experience started. After dinner, along with others (from all over the globe) we were led by a marching band through windy streets, everyone waving their country flag to arrive in the Vrijthof. What a venue, what an atmosphere filled with people from everywhere and the concert -wow- we did not want the concert to stop. The Mayor and Leaders of Maastricht along with Andre Rieu are to be congratulated for maintaining and developing a charming venue that is open to the World but still richly the Vrijthof Maastricht. As travellers we are genuinely cautious with costs but this holiday grew from enjoyable to an absolutely unbelievable memorable experience. We say "never let the money overshadow the experience" . Check out a visit to Maastricht (a beautiful town) and wander around the Vrijthof - better still, go to an Andre Rieu Concert in the Vrijthod!

Footnote: From Maastricht, we caught a train into Belgium ...
