This is a location worth including in a walking tour around Maastricht by carrying on northward up Boschstraat from Markt and taking the footpath down to the right just before the right turn onto Maasboulevard.

't Bassin (het Bassin or the Basin) is a boat mooring off the River Maas.

It is a pleasant area in itself and has some restaurants around its edge.

't Bassin features a fountain, which operates intermittently, and has a floating stage which can be manoeuvered into position for performing artists occasionally during events in the city.

Mute swans can be seen on the water sometimes.

The walk around the western and southern sides of 't Bassin is enhanced by a series of display boards on the walls outlining the development and history of the area, starting from the NW corner.

Best to be visited during summer, this small harbour is very near the city centre, but is usually very quiet. Because it's behind a few larger buildings and at the edge of the centre, not many tourists know about its existence. But it's a nice place with some good restaurants (especially the seafood at the Harbour Club).

A five minute walk from the market square and you will find this lovely area - recently renovated I think

There are a couple of lovely restaurants and a well stocked wine bar to peruse plus the privately owned boats are really lovely to look at

Lovely, peaceful definitely worth the visit

Arthouse Lumière just moved to Bassin 88. Old facory buildings totaly renovated. The restaurant serves snacks, light meals and Belgian and other beers. The cinema's are in cubicles with excellent seats an screen projection and sound.
Across the street you can find the Pathé cinema with 8 different cinema halls. Maastricht now realy has a cinecity.

Strolled up there this afternoon and there was zero people in this small dockyard area. I guess its a sunny day activity when I think it'll be worthwhile sitting out at one of the bars set under the top walkway.

This is a lovely marina in the heart of Maastricht. It is accessible from the Maas, by sluice/bridge. Usually there are many canal boats moored here, and there is a lovely cafe/bar scene on the lower terrace overlooking the harbour.

Most tourists do not find the Bassin as it is just outside the Centre and furthermore it is not well visible, as the roads around are on a higher level. Yet it is a lovely place with quite a few restaurants around the water. Nearby are two cinemas, Pathé and Lumière. Lumière also offers a restaurant with a terrace on the waterside.
From here you can easily walk to the centre, Market and Vrijthof.
