I traveled to this museum specifically to see their temporary exhibition about sharks, which is still running until January 2017. This is housed in a single room only, but with gigantic video walls above that have a manta ray and a great white shark swimming around, as if you were deep underwater with them. The rest of the museum has... More

Beautiful, old building with an interesting selection of items. Texts are in Dutch, but an English brochure is available (however, it is a bit messy and not easy to follow). Anyway, the objects speak for themselves, and you don't really need the brochure. Our son just loved the mosasaurus fossiles and the bee-hive. The whole museum is accessible with wheelchair.

They had a great "Spider Exhibit" just in time for Halloween. A bit scary but laid out in a very interesting and informative way. The staff were helpful and the exhibits were well cared for and language friendly for the tourists.

Pricey and the English translations book is awful. It's fun and has some great exhibits but if don't speak Dutch you'll miss out on a lot.

I saw the most exotic sea dinosaur here. Totally worth the visit. This mosasaur was native to the Netherlands. It's fossil is too majestic to miss. This is a pretty unique place to check out in Maastricht, very different from the common historical attractions.

There are no English translations anywhere unless you get your own English pamphlet that you have to return after. The exhibits are okay as well.

It ís near the inner city library so me and my friend dropped by one day. It was a really interesting trip inside and a lot could be learnt about the natural history of Maastricht. Also good for children.

Small museum about the local prehistoric history. Specially the items which were found in the nearby quarries (mosasaurus). They have small exhibitions from time to time about specific prehistoric topics. Ideal to pop in with children.

I visited the museum several times over the years. Last week I visited it once more, this time with a German friend of mine. Although all displays are in Dutch, he was able to read up on the information by means of a booklet. These booklets are available in English, German, and perhaps also in French. The greatest highlight of... More

It is one of the old museum of this kind in our country, still good to see the effects of this founding fathers (and women!) as one layer in this. And yes: new people/ youth is attracted by new ideas to attract. But happily it is in their combination were this place exites: It gives interested youth the opportunity to... More
