Did not anticipate much....frankly..just killing time, however...we were pleasantly surprised with our cave visit. We credit our tour guide Gerard, not his evil cousin Jack for making a hole in the ground interesting and exciting. Highlight was When Gerard turned out all the lights and had us walk along the wall in COMPLETE darkness (seriously...total darkness). Would recommend this as... More

Our North-caves tour, was impressive, fun and great. Auke was a great tour leader, who allowed those who wished so, to walk in the dark in one part the caves - which was an amazing experience. Furthermore Auke was knowledgeable, and showed us the vault where Dutch art work was kept during the Second World War. In brief an authentic... More

It is a wonderful trip that walks you through 800 years of Maastricht's historical record. It simply felt as if you needed much longer to truly experience your surroundings.

a great tour. Our tour guide Auke, was great very knowledgeable. So much information about the caves, a lot of history. It was very dark and cold in the caves. Also a great view of the city from the top of the hill.

A very fun outdoor (in-cave) activity in Maastricht. The tour guide was very good and friendly. We visited the Southern Caves, which was full of interesting cave features, history and culture. The view of the fields outside the cave entrance was also very nice on a sunny day. Highly recommend it if you have more than one day in Maastricht.

We came without expectations and very delighted by the tour. It lasts about an hour and a half. The tour is guided by knowledgable staff. Our guide Wyn (?) was interesting, comical and informative. We were amazed at the history of the limestone mines and the methodology of the farmers who started mining here. Would highly recommend.
