The spiritual meets culture

What a transformation.
Indeed if a church had to be converted, it had to be to a bookstore.
In summer I had visited Lello in Porto, but this is also quite something,....
heavenly! but then again, we're in a church!

If there is a heaven, this is it

Its a beautiful Gothic church from the outside, which has been refurbished as a book store, and it is an absolute sight to behold I must say. It is so grand and majestic in terms of art, and has a wide array of books (also in English, which was great for me). One can spend hours wandering about and admiring the ceilings, and windows and the books and not get bored. It also has a small cafe for coffee at the end, so the place pretty much has everything.

Bookstore In A Church
Apr 2019 • Couples
If you plan on visiting the Bookstore, and if you are driving, use the underground parking lot. It is very close to the bookstore, because if you park on the street and are a minute late getting back, it is a 100 euro fine. The nice owner of a chocolate shop nearby gave us this advice.

The bookstore is unique because it is located in an old church. The enormous steel doors are beautiful. The high ceilings of the store are as they were when it was a church. There are three levels to the store, clean restrooms downstairs, and a nice sandwich and pastry shop with seating inside. Stop and see it if you are in the area.

Church turned into a bookstore
Feb 2018 • Friends
Considered as one of the prettiest bookstores in the world, this one is located inside a refurbished Gothic church dating to the 13th century.

Tracking a book...
Nov 2018 • Solo
Great response. A consultant on hand to locate the book and a follow up call to announce its very prompt arrival in the store.
Finally a beautifully gift wrapped book to take back to Australia.

Heaven of books
Sep 2018 • Friends
I went to Maastricht to see the scenic view ,the historical places, the smooth wide river, the old bridge over the river but I never expect our guide will lead us to a bookstore. I was a little bit of upset to the idea of visiting an old church turned to be a bookstore. When I step into that church became bookshop I was speechless. So variety of books, so many corner of books , a little corner for coffee with books. It's really amazing thing to visit. The lighting and the reflection makes those books like a fairy tale you just feel like jump on it and dig out the jewel. You must visit that place.

a place you shouldn’t miss
Jun 2018 • Family
The lighting effect at the ceiling is fascinating. not sure if it is related to LGBT so it looks like rainbow colors. The view from the top to the cafe is amazing too ! it is a cross-like table and there are 11 smaller tables around it. does it symbolize the bible story?
