Heerlen theatre certainly is top of the bill in the South-Limburg region. Built in 1961 by the famous Heerlen architect Frits Peutz with only one big theatre hall, it has been revitalised in an extensive renovation programme some years ago. Two more halls were added: the Limburg zaal for little groups. A multi purpose hall where seats can be removed and the public can enjoy the concerts, whether classical or pop concerts close to the performers. The smallest hall is the ING zaal a playground for stand up comedians or solo artists.
The main theatre hall, RABO zaal, seats around 1000. During the renovation special attention was paid to accoustics. During classical performances the stage is bordered by a wooden structure, more a shell, which not only directs the sound directly towards the audience, but even performers benifit of the structure because it enables them to monitor the other musicians some distance away. Because of its excellent accoustics famous orchestras like the Concertgebouw Orkest Amsterdam perform in Heerlen at least once a year.
As a spectator you're offered 'sterrang' seats in the centre of the hall at a somewhat higher price. My tipp: buy cheaper 2nd category tickets. Seating, viewing and accoustics are excellent.

The Heerlen theatre offers two bars. The bar on the first floor (entrance to the main RABO zaal) offers cold drinks during the break that can be ordered beforehand. Prices are somewhat higher than the Dutch average.

Performers in Heerlen find excellent facilities like dressing rooms and showers. Performers have their own bar with free coffee and tea from a machine. The artists bar offers drinks at a very low price, much lower than the two bars open to the public.

My first visit and it was great. Great shows, music plays, ballets and much more. Great facilities inside seating was good and the venue was big enough to create a good atmosphere. I will defiantly be taking my family there again, Parking is under the theater and is easy to get to and not to expensive to park.

A great location to view a variety of performances. A beautiful theater with a small town feel that provides outstanding concerts and performances. Parking is a bit difficult so arrive early, have a drink nearby and take your time.

We enjoyed another ballet performance at this theater in Heerlen. The theater is near a railway station and offers an underground parking garage which we find quite convenient. We booked on-line tickets and upon arrival we pre-ordered drinks so we could pick up a tray with drinks during interval break and did not have to wait in in-line. We have been to larger theaters but an advantage of this theater is that it does not matter too much which seats you book (different price ranges) and you could opt for less expensive tickets. For those in the Maastricht area, this theater offers a good variety of performances and concerts and no need to travel further afield.

A fabulous experience seeing Katherine Jenkins and the St Petersburg orchestra. Theatre is fresh and airy, welcoming entrance from a large courtyard, marble tile floors usher you past the ground floor areas, coat check, exhibition space and wc, various displays in a spacious modern, calm feeling and welcoming space. Upstairs or in the lift to another open space with bar and coffee bar. The place is clean and welcoming. In to the stage area seating is typically tiered and horseshoed around the stage, acoustics great and line of sight to stage is superb. We sat in front row and were approx 1.5m from the raised stage which made the experience special. Ample toilets, parking in the immediate vicinity, easy to find in the centrum.

After a renovation some years ago this theatre is a very nice place to visit cultural events. Last year we visitted a local production ( witste nog, koempel ) a national
( concertgebouworkest ) and an international production ( the king's singers)
We enjoyed all three of them very much.

We were 3 mins late but they are very nice that they still let us in. The performance was good and the acoustic was great.

There's 15 minutes break and a bar is open to enjoy. Seats are comfortable.

Centrally located in Heerlen town, it is easy to get to from any direction. Modern, clean decor with a wardrobe, toilets, elevators and a large, but cosy-feeling bar in front. The individual concert rooms are either carpeted in a wine red carpeting, or pale wood flooring with wine red velveteen seating, that is very comfortable. There are toilets and a bar on the third floor as well. My partner and I have been a number of times to enjoy An Evening with John Cleese, and numerous classical music evenings. We have always found the staff friendly, welcoming, helpful and professional.
