Nice venue, love the 'Kleine Zaal'

I go to the Oosterpoort regularly, mainly to see bands. The Kleine Zaal is a great place to see a band in a smaller setting.

It is Groningen's main stage for live concerts, but I keep trying to find alternatives. Not because of the acoustics, that part is covered quite well. The rest of the place hoever resembles the best of eastern europe in former days. Lots of spacious concrete and uninterested civil servants occupying it. Hard materials everywhere, long walks trough emptyness, even when... More

Good acoustic and you have a good view of the stage wherever you are in the audience. Beer 2,50 euros.

The location has two halls, one large (1200 seats) and one small (450 seats). While Groningen is a small city (population 200,000) it has a surprisingly good cultural life and I've seen a number of really good performances here. Paco de Lucia a couple of years ago was a real highlight. A have a few complaints. The accoutics in the... More

Concerthall for all sorts of music and famous for the yearly "Noorderslag" festival. Especially classical music sounds great.

The Grote Zaal at the Oosterpoort has great acoustics and is now at last a comfortabele place in which to sit. I was last there for Joshua Bell and the Academy of St.Martin in the Fields. A veritable Triumph. Other great namens come - Sokolov, for example. The wrak spot is the service during the interval: the queues are too... More

Have been to this concert hall many times, both the big and small hall. Concerts in Amsterdam are cheaper and Groningen is the poor area of the Netherlands, so I am always surprised how expensive concerts are here and most of all how ridiculously expensive and lousy the drinks and the food are, both when in the hall and before... Great concert venue. Loved the Pokey LaFarge concert in December! I also recommend the every year returning Noorderslag festival.

The Oosterpoort is a medium sized concert hall with very good acoustics. Internationally famous ensembles perform here regularly and the price of admittance paid here is far below what one would pay in a major city. I recently enjoyed the Requiem of Gabriel Faure with the Collegium Vocale Ghent and the Orchestre des Champs Elysees. Not the least I should... More
